“Boardgame Buddies”

With a quiet table David sat there staring at the card. He looked up to Greg, his thoughts conflicted. He really didn’t want to have to do what the card said. He sighed and looked back to the card, “Boardgame Buddies; Recruit a new player by the start of the next round.”

Kody took in a harsh breath, his mind already swirling. He had wanted to talk to Jeff, not rope him into this horrific game. With a frown Kody looked at the empty doorway Jeff stood just earlier.

Greg narrowed his eyes, not that happy to have a dumb card try and add another player, let alone his best friend. Just because they had sex doesn’t mean he was ready to doom a dear friend. “Don’t even try.”

David set the card down and crossed his arms. “It’s either that or I get punished, which is probably permanent. At least if he joins now we can tell him what we have learned.” Kody scoffed and crossed his arms.

“Like that has helped.” Kody’s wolf ear flicked, making Caiden giggle. “What?” The younger brother leaned up to Kody, his smile making Kody’s chest tighten just the slightest bit.

Caiden spoke in a small whisper, “Those ears.” Kody growled and turned back to his Uncle. Caiden just grinned staring at the red faced Kody. Then he remembered he was still at the table, in front of his father. Caiden shook his head and turned to face his uncle. With a thumbs up to David as his allegiance Greg grabbed his card.
