Chapter 3 by SlimeQSlimedog SlimeQSlimedog

Back to the start?

[THE SPOILERIFFIC STORY BIBLE] [Meta]

Warning: Yes, this will probably contain spoilers.

This story bible is more for me to use as a tool when writing, than a synopsis of the characters. This is because I tend to forget details easily without a reference I can keep coming back to, and keeping it here is not only convenient, but provides others the opportunity to see the strange process my mind goes through.

Note that everything here is subject to considerable change, especially while the early story is in flux.

All information here represents the characters before any sort of corruption or manipulation occurs, at the moment they are first introduced to the story.

Instances of "???" are simply things that need to be fleshed out.

Setting

  • Small Wisconsin town
  • The story begins on Sunday, March 29th, 1998
  • This means: landline phones, dial-up internet, Windows 95 on Pentiums, Must See TV on Thursdays, no smartphones, limited texting on those cellphones that do exist
  • Originally a high school but moved it to community college in order to be safer, age-wise

General Character Notes

Just had a bit of a revelation. Why the heck should the reader have to decide on the main character's sexuality at the start? Why not just let them make decisions as they go along, a la Fire Emblem, Mass Effect, or dozens of other games with romance options? This simplifies things a lot while actually adding to the story's flexibility.

Trying to figure out how to go in order to make things flexible for multiple genders/sexualities of the protagonist, without also making them a complete pain in the ass. For each character, there are a few possibilities:

  • The "Just Make 'em Bi" route: Having characters be bisexual is obviously the easiest solution, and requires the least extra writing. But it's a bit unrealistic for every character to be bi... plus, my being a straight male means that if I'm not careful this ends up being "Just Make All the Girls Bi", which I'd like to avoid.
  • The "Protag's Complement" route: if the protagonist is straight, the character is straight and the opposite gender of the protag. If the protagonist is gay, the character is gay and the same gender as the protag. Basically like the above option, except a bit more work, since I may have to account for interactions with other characters and adapt them as needed.
  • The "Grab Bag" route: There are four variations of the character: straight male, straight female, gay male, and lesbian, and the appropriate one is present to complement the protagonist's choices. Obviously the most work, but also the most flexible, especially since the "other" character variations can still be present as "background characters" for the other paths. Overall writing difficulty is probably made easier by using conditional variables to choose text, but it's still convoluted to pull off.
  • The "Diverging Story" route: The character is the character, gender and preference unchanging, and the story just has to adapt accordingly. Therefore, a romance option may not be possible for that character. Actually harder than the "grab bag" route since the different paths are going to diverge more.

The end solution will probably be a mixture of these, to keep things interesting.

The object (the “Manipulator”)

  • Appearance:
  • Elastic armband made up of shiny metallic rectangular segments and one larger “face” segment
  • No visible seams/markings on segments
  • Main “face” of device should be roughly square
  • Light glows on face when active (worn), but you can’t see where it comes from, as the face is totally opaque and metallic
  • Glowing light is a circle, roughly dime-sized
  • Once worn, object projects a strong psychological dependency onto the wearer, making him/her want to leave it on all the time (in this sense, it manipulates the wearer as much as it does other folks)
  • Induces a state of mild euphoria, and slowly amplifies wearer’s latent desires with continued use; in protag’s case this could be very dangerous as years of isolation/rejection have caused him to develop a strong superiority/inferiority complex, feelings of anger, resentment, entitlement
  • Oooh, maybe extended use can result in “feedback”, causing the target’s latent wishes to start imprinting on the wearer? That could be *interesting*.
  • Wearer can essentially compel a target to believe and/or do whatever the wearer desires. The target must be in relatively close proximity — something like 40 feet, need to clarify this — and although the wearer must be looking in the direction of the target, the wearer doesn’t have to actively see the target; just knowing where the target is relative to the wearer is sufficient (e.g. if someone is behind a door, they can still be manipulated if the wearer knows they’re there)
  • Initially it is extremely easy to accidentally manipulate targets via stray thoughts; after the first 24 hours the device gets an update that decreases this likelihood; wearer now has to more explicitly concentrate for something to happen. (Reason: Kessel has been monitoring, and quietly tweaks the software after he notices your problems)
  • Target will create mental justifications for anything they do/think that’s wildly out of character, or obviously wrong (e.g. if protag causes a woman to kiss him, she may think she tripped and her lips accidentally brushed his cheek, or she may decide that she simply wants to be more friendly and platonically kiss lots of people on the cheek from now on — this is how protag will learn about this, when Amanda “explains” her kiss
  • This can lead to serious consequences though as the brain can literally “rewrite” itself, adjusting the personality and/or memories to fit the new behavior/belief
  • But if the new personality is TOO different, it could lead to a genuine psychotic break, severe depression, etc. Example: if protag rewrites a lesbian with absolutely no interest in men to be bisexual — or, worse, straight — she may be tortured by the fact that she suddenly likes boys despite being absolutely sure of her sexuality before. Consider the panic, self-doubt, confusion, even self-betrayal that could result from that; it could even lead to suicide.
  • Severe psychological effects can often be mitigated by the wearer manipulating the target to forget what happened, but not always — and even if it does work, some latent changes will remain
  • Is a prototype and can possibly malfunction, causing it to widely and uncontrollably broadcast the wearer’s base emotions into nearby individuals
  • Even in this state, wearer is psychologically compelled not to remove it
  • Malfunction state is a pulsing red ring around the main circle
  • Light cycles from bluish-green (teal) ➡️ green ➡️ yellow ➡️ orange ➡️ red as its energy depletes. Recharging causes protag to become extremely tired, and at 0, the wearer passes out and sleeps until the device is fully charged again
  • Has low initial charge at start, which explains why protag is so tired at first (instead of the real reason, which is that I was sick of writing exposition)
  • Is surreptitiously recording everything the wearer does, as experimental data

Family Members

Protagonist (Default: Sam Anderson)

  • Default name is Sam, which is nice and gender-neutral.
  • Can be male or female; referred to as male in these notes for brevity
  • (Female is tough as I want to be realistic/egalitarian but also have limited knowledge of that area) (also issues with separating male-gaze wish fulfillment/fantasy from actually relateable female desire/romance)
  • Would honestly like to give the option to be gay/straight/bi but am worried I couldn’t write believably
  • Let’s be honest here: to start off, options presented will lean towards a straight protagonist, or a female gay/bi protagonist, because "write what you know". Hopefully down the line I (or someone else) can help flesh out straight female/gay male paths.
  • Body: Thin, tall, disheveled.
  • Hair: Thick black hair, somewhat short, combed forward.
  • Face: Thick glasses that make his hazel eyes look tiny, slightly bulbous nose.
  • Chest: Sunken, not much muscle tone, little bit of chest hair, vague outlines of ribs visible.
  • Crotch: Scraggly patch of curly black pubic hair. Absolutely average penis (roughly 5.1 inches), circumcised.
  • Typical outfit: jeans, T-shirt, sweatshirt. No makeup if female. Generally tries to remain inconspicuous.
  • Personality: Awkward, nervous, clumsy. Tries to draw attention away from self but also secretly wants it. Has ADHD (undiagnosed), depression, anxiety esp social due to life of bullying (although the worst bully is really himself, he just doesn’t realize it). Extremely wary of boys his age; less wary of girls (may flip/alter this for female protag, not sure). Trusts older people far more, with the exception of anyone who resembles Mrs. Bloch. Pent-up anger, domination/control fantasies, could be dangerous if unchecked. Is deeply conflicted about using the Manipulator, until it starts to assert its own control over him.
  • Likes anime. Chats on IRC as "Dryden80" ("Hitomi80" if female).
  • Fetishes: exhibitionism/voyeurism, outfits/costumes, domination/control, more generally anything “naughty”/taboo. Not into ****, but as corruption increases, those other fetishes increase and override other concerns
  • Dislikes: anal (sorry, folks), scat (intensely)
  • ADHD issues worse than my own, to the point where he fails to get into any university and has to enroll in community college
  • Has habit of naming aspects of himself and holding internal dialogues with them
  • Why in college if he hates it? It’s a condition imposed by his mother if he wants to keep living at home rent-free. (Raises the possibility of his manipulating his mom into letting him quit, but that should result in other bad side-effects — e.g. maybe his mom gives up on him entirely, considers him a lost cause)

Sister (Default: Laura Anderson)

  • Age: One year younger than Sam (so, 18)
  • Body: Tall and thin like Sam -- actually a little bit taller -- but carries herself far better since she doesn’t have the same self-esteem issues.
  • Hair: Long and blond, usually kept in a ponytail
  • Face: Very Scandinavian features which she inherited from your father. Blue eyes. Full lips. No glasses.
  • Chest: Teardrop C-cup breasts, small pink nipples
  • Crotch: Puffy mons, fine blond trimmed pubic hair, small labia
  • Sunday outfit: T-shirt, skinny jeans, black lace bra and panties, red lipstick, blush
  • Monday outfit: V-neck short-sleeved shirt, white with floral pattern on it. Skinny jeans, white lace bra and panties, white scrunchie in hair, pink lipstick, blush
  • Personality: Artistic and outgoing, but stubborn and opinionated; hates losing an argument with Sam. Friendly relationship with Sam but doesn’t understand him.
  • Fetishes: ??? Maybe a latent **** fantasy, but I don't want to be too much like "Wet Dreams".
  • Has a best friend, Jennifer
  • Sexuality: Bisexual, but in denial about it

Mother (Default: Helen Anderson)

  • Age: Late 30s
  • Body: Somewhat large, mostly due to childbearing hips and somewhat pendulous breasts -- these things happen when you age and have kids.
  • Hair: Short, black (or very dark brown) hair, a bit naturally curly (but not tons -- we aren't talking perm levels here).
  • Face: Round, Eastern European/Polish looks
  • Chest: Pendulous, bell-shaped DD-cup breasts, sagging slightly due to age but not a ton. Dark brown nipples with large areolae -- quarter-sized, maybe.
  • Crotch: An absolute forest of nearly-black, curly pubic hair.
  • Sunday outfit: High-waisted, loose-fitting "mom jeans". Simple pink blouse. Practical white cotton panties and bra.
  • Personality: upbeat, assertive, nurturing. This is obvious since she exhibits such patience with Sam, letting him live there rent-free, forgiving him for not making it into college
  • Fetishes: ??? Honestly seeing her as pretty vanilla, a bit naive. I get the feeling her husband was a pretty basic, just missionary-position individual.
  • Widowed when Sam/Kara were young
  • Comp sci major, worked as IT technician and then later as app developer
  • Pretty solidly straight, at least until manipulated

Peers: Female

Amanda Moore

  • Age: 18
  • Body: ??? (needs fleshing out)
  • Hair: Shoulder-length, reddish-brown hair, naturally wavy. Simply styled, usually held back with some sort of hairband.
  • Face: A bit mousy, bookish, but cute. Usually wears contacts, but has glasses for when she doesn't want to bother with them.
  • Chest: ??? (not yet!)
  • Crotch: ??? (also not yet!)
  • Monday outfit: Simple white blouse, knee-length skirt
  • Personality: Bookworm, but into sociology/psych rather than comp sci. Smart, but was unable to secure a scholarship; didn’t have money otherwise so is attending community college
  • Fetishes: ???
  • First meets Sam at start of story
  • Sam first confirms the device is real when he “harmlessly” manipulates her to kiss him on the cheek
  • But then Sam learns of consequences of manipulation, when Amanda “explains” that she tripped on the way back to her table and her lips “accidentally” hit your cheek when she braced herself
  • Sexuality: Straight for straight male Sam; bi-curious for bi/lesbian female Sam. Her libido is very low to start in general.
  • Is in protagonist's Health class

Friend (default: Kara, Kay) Foster

  • Age: Same age as Sam (19)
  • Body: Average height, bit shorter than Sam. Curvy, hourglass figure, but still reasonable (e.g. her waist isn't a freaking pencil).
  • Hair: Long, fiery red curls of hair, sometimes secured with a hairband but often just free. Short, curly bangs.
  • Face: Freckles on her cheeks, emerald eyes.
  • Chest: ??? (Not yet! Probably pretty average.)
  • Crotch: ??? (Also not yet! Definitely red curls matching her hair, probably trimmed into a triangle or something.)
  • Wednesday outfit: ???
  • Personality: Friends with Sam/Kara since preschool, but closer to Sam due to mutual love of computers. Is openly, evenly bisexual, but has an average libido. Viciously liberal, polyamorous, against monogamy. Feminist, and I mean actual feminist, not the terrifying straw-man nightmares that MRAs piss themselves over. So obviously she's not going to be happy if you only manipulate women for personal gain -- I mean, she's not going to be happy with you manipulating anybody, but if you're going to do so, it should at least be reasonably egalitarian.
  • Note: this might be difficult to track with CHYOA's engine, as you can't really compare variables against one another. Best option may be to have a "manip_balance" variable that increments with female manips, and decrements with male ones. Since CHYOA also doesn't allow for negative values in variables, it should have a bias of +100 or so. Might be overthinking this, as it's not like she'll be aware of every single manipulation you've done... unless she can view the logs or something...
  • Accepted to university due to better grades/study habits (doesn’t have ADHD like Sam does)
  • Sam respects her to the point that he has misgivings manipulating her
  • Might set things up so she has an unusual reaction to the Manipulator, where she can hear the suggestions (like Emily) and understand that she is being affected, but still is affected (unlike Emily). That seems like it could have interesting potential.
  • May want to add a “friend_nickname” variable

Jennifer Bennett (Jenna)

  • Laura's best friend (why did I have two characters with names ending in "-ra"?)
  • Body: Shorter, chubbier than sister. Other than that, ???
  • Hair: ???
  • Face: ???
  • Chest: ???
  • Crotch: ???
  • Typical outfit: ??? (But I'm really leaning towards her being in a school that requires uniforms... because uniforms)
  • Personality: Bi but primarily lesbian, highly sexual, definite crush on sister, but either sister doesn’t see it, or doesn’t want to see it. Very little sexual interest in men, but she may make an exception for people she really likes. Artistic like sister, but more into textile arts than paper media. Also musical, takes piano lessons.
  • Fetishes: She does have a bit of an exhibitionist streak, and gets off on people of all genders watching her.

Amy Clark

  • Girl in protagonist's figure drawing class
  • Acquaintance in school, but never really a friend
  • Body: ??? (Small, short, not really clearly defined yet)
  • Hair: ??? (Maybe a pixie cut?)
  • Face: ???
  • Chest: ??? (Also small, most likely A-cup)
  • Crotch: ???
  • Typical outfit: ???
  • Personality: Secretly likes Daniel but is too timid to talk to him
  • Sexuality: Straight

Sarah Roberts

  • Body: Short and small. Not particularly toned, nor fat, nor thin.
  • Hair: Short, black, and styled in a bob.
  • Face: Distinctly Chinese features, is second-generation Chinese-American.
  • Chest: ??? (Most likely average, B-to-C cup)
  • Crotch: ??? (no clue yet)
  • Tuesday outfit: only thing I know for sure so far is she wears a leather miniskirt and T-shirt at one point, might wear jean skirts at others?
  • Personality: Timid, emotional, ****. Bullied like protag for much of her life.
  • Sexuality: Straight, although if you make her an egomaniac/nymphomaniac via story choices, she'll happily dominate anyone, of any gender
  • Fetishes: Secretly has a strong domination/humiliation fetish.
  • Protag can use device to boost her self-confidence and stand up to bullies, resulting in (among other things) her kicking Brett (or another bully) squarely in the junk
  • Alternate: Protag uses device to take advantage of her; this obviously leads to some nasty consequences when others find out
  • Is in protagonist's physics class

Tiana Barnes (Tee), Melissa Robinson (Lyssa), Katherine Jenkins (Kathy) ("The Trio")

  • Three girls on the cheerleading squad
  • Hang on, may need to change that; do community colleges even have cheerleaders?
  • Appearance: as much as I’d like to diversify the character list further, realistically in 1998 Wisconsin they’re all gonna be WASPs
  • Typical outfit: whatever was *the* fashion trend of 1998 - I’ll have to look it up since I was sleepwalking through life at the time
  • Personality: Superficial, somewhat arrogant.
  • Sexuality: Predominantly straight, but highly sexual in general, and have “experimented” several times. They’ll deny it if you ask them, though...
  • Fetishes: ???
  • Protag thinks they hate him; in fact they’re mostly indifferent to him, might find him a bit cold and weird but that's it (this is a common thread with his relationships)
  • In health class with him... maybe.
  • Should probably have some sort of male equivalents of them as well... maybe later

Emily Maarschalkerweerd (Marshmallow, Marsh)

  • Appearance: Short, chubby, blond CS major. Hair at roughly shoulder length. Pink dyed streak on right side. Large breasts -- a very rubenesque figure in general.
  • Typical outfit: Wears jeans, T-shirts (esp. theater/band related) and shirts with low necklines, tennis shoes, leather jacket.
  • Personality: Bubbly and happy. Likes anime. Huge theater buff.
  • Sexuality: Gets a kick out of teasing folks by showing off a lot of cleavage/skin. Bi, but never really thought about it. Sees herself as straight, at least at first. (Yeah, similar to sister, but in Emily's case she just never considered the possibility, whereas sister is actively in denial about it.) Is willing to consider polyamory, but again, never really thought about it. Sees sex as essentially fun, but also to be respected (i.e. safer sex is an absolute must at all times).
  • Has the genetic marker that makes her immune to the Manipulator, but like Dr. Kessel, she can tell when some is trying to do it, as she "hears" the command in her head.
  • Might throw in a story-driven personality choice here... if you try a "subtle" manipulation on her (which fails) and then reveal the Manipulator, she becomes excited about its potential, and sorta becomes your co-conspirator, excited to hear about or see your uses of it. If you try a "blatant" manipulation, she is wary of its potential, and dislikes you using it on others.

Smita Prasad

  • Classmate in algorithms class
  • Appearance: Indian. Long, silky black hair that cascades down her shoulders. Radiant, velvet cafe au lait skin.
  • Typical outfit: Skirt, sleeveless shirt, knitted sweater, satin underwear
  • Personality: Friendly, but determined and reserved.
  • Fetishes: Love the feel of satin against her skin
  • Sexuality: If you choose her storyline, she's straight for male protag, lesbian for female protag.
  • Is in protagonist's algorithms class, as well as physics
  • Eventually you'll be able to choose between Smita or Raz for that whole storyline. (That's the plan, anyway.)

Peers: Male

Raziel ??? (Raz)

  • Classmate in algorithms class
  • Appearance: ???
  • Typical outfit: ???
  • Personality: Friendly, but determined and reserved.
  • Fetishes: ???
  • Sexuality: If you choose his storyline, he's gay for male protag, straight for female protag.
  • Is in protagonist's algorithms class, as well as physics

David Rogers (Dave)

  • Friend since high school
  • Appearance: Toned, muscular, hairy chest, basically everything protag isn't (if protag is male)
  • Typical outfit: Sharp, professional: khakis, sleeveless shirt underneath dress shirt, tie (when working), loafers (when hanging out) or dress shoes (when working)
  • Personality: Gay, lives alone, works as a personal assistant to an executive. Always in and out of various relationships. Has a crush on protag, if protag is male, and protag can choose whether or not to reciprocate. If protag is female, treats her like a favorite sister.
  • Fetishes: ???
  • Need to work in a time to meet him

Daniel Jenkins (Dan)

  • Guy in your figure drawing class
  • Appearance: Thinking glasses, but other than that, ???
  • Typical outfit: ???
  • Personality: Acquaintance in school, but never really a friend. Secretly likes Amy but is too timid to talk to her.
  • Sexuality: Straight

Brett Peterson

  • Appearance: Blond, crew-cut, lanky but reasonably toned
  • Typical outfit: Whatever was try-hard aggressive and cool in the late 90s ???
  • Personality: Possibly protag’s worst bully throughout your entire life. Father owns local construction company, so family is pretty well-off, and Brett lets people know it -- he's arrogant as fuck. Secretly, his father is extremely abusive to him and his mother, which causes him to take it out on you (and others).
  • Fetishes: Jesus, who cares? (Seriously, though, need to flesh this out later, as it is possible to turn him around.)
  • Sexuality: Confused. Possibly bi but terrified about the prospect because his dad is violently homophobic.

Older Adults

Dr. Paul Kessel

  • Invented the device.
  • Appearance: Tall, thin, dirty-blonde hair, slightly ruddy face, basically unassuming. Probably has a British accent.
  • Personality: Is somewhat of a mad scientist, friendly, but a bit obsessed/unhinged.
  • Sexuality: No idea yet. ???
  • Is immune to the device’s effects due to some sort of genetic marker, but also means he is unable to use the device himself. He can tell if you're trying to manipulate him.
  • Mailed it to you to test in an act of desperation after nobody would fund him, and has been recording your actions as experimental data
  • Probably has some sort of dark secret, but hell, I have no idea what it is yet. From the future, maybe? Reverse-engineering alien tech?

Dr. Steve Smith

  • Physics teacher
  • Appearance: Really no idea here so far except I think he has sandy brown hair, a mustache and a lab coat
  • Typical outfit: Lab coat ???
  • Personality: Friendly, "Bill Nye" sort of guy
  • Sexuality: Gay if you're a gay/bi male; otherwise straight.

Miss Rachel Kincaid

  • Calculus teacher
  • Appearance: Tall and thin, with a narrow face and aquiline nose. Auburn hair, worn in a bun behind her head. Deceptively well-endowed (she hides it well behind loose, solid-color blouses), with D-cups that end in perky points.
  • Typical outfit: Crisp white blouse, long skirt, and sensible black flats. (Oh shit, I've accidentally given Amanda and Miss K basically identical fashion sense. Good going, me.)
  • Personality: Stern, serious, no-nonsense with her students, but friendly and helpful. Strong libido, but she represses it due to her generally conservative nature.
  • Sexuality: Pretty strongly bisexual, but represses/denies that as well. Good, conservative women are supposed to marry and be doting wives, after all...
  • Fetishes: Latent exhibitionist/submissive streak.

Ms. June Reynolds

  • Health teacher
  • Appearance: Has a body type a lot like your mother, except with long, blond hair.
  • Typical outfit: ???
  • Personality: Warm, motherly.
  • Sexuality: Pretty white-bread straight woman.
  • Would there be a health teacher at a community college? Suggest that this school requires a gen ed health course as part of its curriculum

Ms. Patricia Lewis

  • Art teacher (specifically figure drawing because of course it is)
  • Appearance: Black, ex-hippie
  • Typical outfit: Wears a lot of loose, flowing shifts and the like.
  • Sexuality: Cougar, omnisexual, and has gotten in trouble more than once for flirting with her students. The only reason they keep her around is that she’s a fantastic teacher, and there are practically no other candidates in the area.

Mrs. Georgina Bloch

May not actually be a character, just referred to. Hell, maybe she's dead. Maybe her son goes to the protagonist's school? I really, really need more male characters overall.

  • former first grade teacher
  • Basically started protag down the depression spiral due to expecting him to be a prodigy and berating him in front of the class when he screwed up
  • Awful, just awful. Don't expect anything the slightest bit sexual regarding this character. She's pretty heavily drawn from real experience, and suffice to say, I still haven't forgiven her for the shit she did.

Peers: Minor Characters

These are all characters that only appear in the "evil" branch so far, although I imagine some (if not all) will show up in the other branches eventually.

Jessica (Jesse) (Calculus)

Fairy-like, with a button nose, pointed chin, and brown hair in a pixie cut. Wears somewhat grunge fashions, with high black boots, tight black jeans, a button-up flannel shirt, and a jean jacket. Lesbian.

Ashley (Calculus)

Long, wavy, fluffed-out blonde hair, with long bangs that she brushes to one side. Prefers dangling earrings over studs. Minimalist in her outfits, often wearing simple spaghetti-strap dresses with various patterns/prints on them. Sweet, soprano voice that belies her surprising naughtiness underneath.

Madeline (Calculus)

Older woman, relatively new mother. Wears brown Birkenstocks, "mom jeans", a brown belt, and loose-fitting button-up shirts. Definite cougar, but is happily married (normally).

Tommy (Calculus, Data Structures)

Wears khakis and polo shirts. Has short, brown hair. Likes fellatio.

Unnamed Blonde Girls (Calculus and Algorithms)

Both wear T-shirts and bras (and presumably panties); one wears a pink skirt, the other jeans. They end up in a lesbian tryst in the "evil" branch, although I think they're more curious best friends than anything else.

Unnamed Blonde Guy (Calculus) / Unnamed Redhead Girl (Calculus, Data Structures)

We don't really learn anything about what they're wearing, and in fact all that is revealed is that they both watch Friends.

Unnamed Gay Couple (Calculus)

Again, no actual character development here except that they're gay, which is frankly pretty lousy of me since the last thing I want is to just throw in some random token gay characters. Hopefully I can flesh them out a bit more later.

Unnamed Olive-Skinned Girl (Calculus)

Tall, with long, silky, black hair. Despite this description, she is not Smita, but rather some other person. I'm thinking she's Persian, maybe. Wears a calf-length, silky red skirt and a white tank top at one point.

Scott and Eve Crawford (Algorithms)

Husband and wife pair. Both on the larger side, and older -- late 30s to early 40s. Scott has black hair and a graying beard; Eve has remarkable reddish-purple dyed hair in a bob cut (and has dyed her pubic hair to match, because that's how she rolls.) Both wear glasses. When we see them, Scott is wearing brown slacks, a blue-and-white checked button-up shirt, and a white cotton T-shirt and boxers underneath that. Eve wears a denim skirt and light gray "pussycat bow" blouse, along with a gold necklace. Underneath that, she wears a sheer white bra and panties with delicate lace trim. He is a writer, she is an artist, and they have both enrolled in classes to learn how to write computer games. Both are very friendly, parental, patient, and informative. You think they're really great people.

Unnamed Brown-Haired Boy and Girl (Algorithms)

Both have reddish-brown hair, of similar length: long bangs that extend almost to their eyebrows, hair in the back that almost reaches the shoulders. But where the boy's is messy and unkempt, the girl's is styled neatly, her ends trimmed and curled. Both have prominent freckles across their cheeks and noses, and both their faces and body types are incredibly similar. They even wear the same basic outfits -- blue jeans, brown belts, sneakers, and T-shirts; simple white cotton panties for the girl, and cotton briefs for the boy. No bra on the girl, but her breasts are very small, barely puffy nubs. It turns out that the two are semi-identical twins, having developed from a single egg and two sperm. This is an actual real thing, albeit incredibly, extremely rare.

Other folks in Data Structures (just some raw notes right now, will flesh out into individual entries later)

Already have Tommy and the Unnamed Redhead, although they need more description
Need three more girls, two more guys
Thinking:

  • Bob: Chubby white guy. Blond hair, relatively long, bangs that cover blue-gray eyes. Wears gray knitted cap, red flannel shirt, white T-shirt, baggy black skater pants. Goes commando.
  • Arjun: Skinny, short Indian-American guy. Straight black hair, parted on one side. Brown eyes, sharp nose, no glasses.
  • Karen: Short Hispanic woman. A bit older, maybe in her 30s. Extremely long hair; completely loose it would brush against the floor. She keeps it tied up in a back-knot. Ample breasts that are even larger than Emily's.
  • Desiree: Black woman. Average height, average size. C cups, maybe. Black, frizzy hair, tied back into braid. Dark brown eyes, brilliant white smile.
  • Paige: Brunette, white woman. Long, dark brown, very straight hair, green eyes, button nose. Headband, no bangs, hair worn straight back. Tight sweater. Tight jeans. Silver earring studs shaped like hearts. No glasses. Chubby like Emily, but with smaller breasts. Friends with Emily. (Why isn't Emily sitting next to her? Because she was going to set next to you today, naturally. Why isn't Paige in the main branch? That's a damned good question and I'll have to figure out an answer to it other than "because she didn't exist yet". I'm thinking there may be a little side-story where she passed by Sam on the street on Monday, and accidentally got swept up in some stray thought of his. I think that could actually be really funny.)

DS is arranged as three rows of two tables each. Paige was gonna keep an eye on Emily's progress, so she sits in the left-most seat of the middle-right table (right in front of Emily's seat). Emily would normally sit next to her, so it's empty. Right-most seat of the left-most table (e.g. across the aisle from Paige) is Bob. The chairs at the front tables, from left to right, seat the redhead girl, Tommy, Karen, Arjun, Desiree, and the right-most seat is empty.

Schedule

(Not counting divergent paths like the "Evil" or "Malfunction" ones)

I'm having trouble balancing the desire to move things forward with the desire for a bit more realism with the "normal" (i.e. non-manipulator) relationships. The problem is that "normal" ones are going to be slower, more deliberate, versus the sex-crazed insanity of manipulation. I might be able to compensate for this by saying that even when you aren't using the device, its effect still causes things to proceed a bit quicker than they normally would, as it amplifies the desires of people around you just as it does to you. This would explain why people are far, far more likely to put out on first dates, why they're more receptive to polyamory, etc.

Minor characters aren't in here yet.

Teachers and Classmates per class

Math - Miss Kincaid, Sarah

Data Structures - Emily

Health - Mrs. Reynolds, Amanda, Tiana, Melissa, Katie
Physics - Dr. Smith, Sarah, Smita/Raziel

Notes:

  • Dave doesn't attend the school. Neither does Friend; she's at a university
  • When you first see Sarah you don't recognize her from Math class (you aren't exactly observant) but she recognizes you
  • Raziel/Smita might still be present if the other is a "main character" for the protagonist.
  • Trio is in health class; might find another one, not sure
  • Don't forget to keep up the bully plotline
  • Still need to flesh out the "hell bully"
  • Should Brett/HellBully be in classes? Or do they just hang around the campus fucking with people?
  • A storyline where HellBully tries to **** someone and you kick the shit out of him would be really, really cathartic...
