"Hmm..." you say thoughtfully, "Good thinking. We should test it a little more first."
"Please..." Sandy pleads softly, tears running down her cheeks, "Don't do this..."
I smiled, "Sandy, forget that you're wearing the ring and act as though it's something you've always worn, and never take off" I say slowly, "Forget everything that happened since you opened the display case. Calm down, clean yourself up, walk back to the display case, and behave as if everything is normal. From now on, when you obey my orders, you will think it is the most natural thing in the world. Don't think that it's frightening or that you are under control, think that you are obeying me because you want to."
Sandy instantly stopped sobbing, stood up straight, wiped her face with a tissue from her purse, and returned to the display case. "Okay. This ought to be the good stuff..." she said, her tone exactly the same as the last time, as if she had been rewound and played back like a video tape. I smirked. Sandy was now my plaything and she didn't even know it. This would be the last time she got me into trouble. I slid the empty ring box into my pocket as I rejoined her behind the counter.
Now that I knew the store was really magic, I had a choice to make. The items behind the counter were clearly dangerous. The rings had been just about the most innocuous looking of the bunch, and none of it seemed to have an instruction manual. On the other hand, that also meant they were the best items and it was still possible for Blake to fiddle with something without my permission and blow us up or worse. The rest of the store seemed safer, boasting a huge selection of books as well as various powders, pills, potions, toys, jewelry, and an awful lot of things I couldn't identify.
Then again, I also had a young hot blonde who would do literally anything I say.
