Chapter 6 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

Now There Are Three Questions To Answer: 1; How Is The Galaxy Set Up? 2; What Race Will You Lead? 3; How Divergent Is The Game Because You Are "Inside" It?

*Galaxy; Young, Imense, Pre-Warp, 7 Players, Easy; All Toggles 'On': Orion Bots (Truely Custom Race, See Chapter.): Very Different...*

You are going to lead the Orion Bots, a "race" of intelligent androids built by the Orions.

On one planet at the edge of Orion space, a group of these robots was set down by the Orions along with a few thousand Orions to start a colony. As the Anatarans destroyed the Orion Empire, the colony was attacked, bombed, and left for dead. Not one Orion Survived and the Anatarans thought the robots would shut down without Orion Directions. They weren't counting on YOU.

The name you have picked for yourself is Personal Family and you were an experiment by a Rogue Orion scientist, a truly sapient robot, fully capable of self-direction and independent decisions. Not only that but you host a nanite colony that lets you heal yourself, so you never wear out. It took you thousands of years, but you've reprogrammed and redesigned all the other robots to be much like yourself, and now, with the flick of a switch, four million custom-designed personality matrices are about to be uploaded into all the other robots. You have had with you all this time three other prototypes like yourself, Leia, Morwyn, and Bestie. You were the first 'male' prototype, and your three lovers were not quite as advanced as you in terms of AI independence, though their neural networks have become increasingly complex over your 3000 years of exile. Without you driving everyone and making all the plans, all four of you know that eventually your lovers would have either given up and put themselves into standby mode, from which they would never wake, or gone stark raving mad. You are unclear on how you have managed to stay sane, but you think part of it has been the sex...

Oh, I haven't mentioned that, have I? Yes, you are a robot, but you were built to be, in part, a sex toy: a fully intelligent lover for the renegade scientist who created you's daughter. You were celibate for the first 500 years or so of your existence after her ****, but around the time it would have been absolutely impossible for even Orion medical science to keep her alive you found your desire for sexual activity returning, and not a minute too soon, because Leia, Morwyn, and Bestie had been trying to seduce you for almost a decade. It's been 3000 galactic standard years since the fall of the Orion Empire, and you are finally ready, four keys have been inserted into the control console of the Capitol building of New Orion, the central re-activator is ready. You and your three lovers just held a pre-celebration orgy and now all that remains is to throw the switch...

The race you have selected is truly custom, you couldn't have built this in an un-modded version of Master of Orion II.

They have the following traits:

Points Gained:
Base Points: +10
-100% population growth†: +10
-10 ground combat rating: +2
-20 Ship Attack: +2
-20 Ship Defense: +2
-0.5 Basic Credits: +4

Points Spent:
Fully Sapient Androids†: 1
Cybernetic: 4
Tolerant: 10
+1 Food: 4
+1 Industry: 3
+1 Science: 3
Government; Unification: 6

Total points: -1
Score Modifier: 90%

Now for the explanation of the more complicated elements.

-100% population growth†: You are not INCAPABLE of population growth, but rather none occurs naturally. To grow your population you must either research and build a special building, research an advance which increases population growth, use the Build Housing construction order, or conquer and absorb members of another race which can breed on its own into your empire...

Fully Sapient Androids†: When you would research or acquire the Android construction advances instead of researching/acquiring one [or more] of three separate advances, you have only one option, development of a sapient android, which has all the normal bonuses and penalties of your race... These are distinguished from normal androids by a purple color and can be assigned to any job just like normal population and pay taxes normally. When assimilating alien populations into your empire once all normal colonists have been assimilated, you begin 'upgrading' any normal androids present in the colony at the same rate.

Cybernetic: Each population unit consumes 0.5 "Food" and 0.5 "Production"; ships are completely repaired after combat; ships' structural and armor are repaired at 10% per turn during combat; ships' systems (engines, weapons, targetting devices, etc.) are repaired by 5% per turn during combat.
This requires some explanation: the newly upgraded Orion Bots have quasi-biological nanite colonies inside them that need biological nourishment to remain healthy and functional. You are not precisely cyborgs, kind of the inverse actually: machines which have been upgraded with semi-biological parts instead of the other way around...

Tolerant: No pollution penalty. A significant increase in the maximum population of all colonies. (25% of maximum possible on that planet's size class.) Maintenance cost penalties on Toxic, Radiated and Desert planets are removed.

Government; Unification: The unification government represents a civilization where the race appears to act and behave almost as one. Sometimes thought of as a 'hive mind' this is not actually the case, they are instead individuals, but from a race to which selfishness and sharp practice are so foreign that they see those who behave in this manner as criminally insane.

Advantages: +50% production per worker; +50% food per farmer; spies get a 15% advantage in defensive operations, (the very concept of 'treason' is fairly alien to the species); not affected by morale penalties; there is no capital and therefore there's no penalty for the loss of the capital.
Disadvantages: not affected by morale bonuses; assimilation of conquered populations takes 250% of the normal time.

Something else I would like to point out is that this race also could not be built in un-modded Master of Orion II for two more reasons, it takes 20 points of disadvantages in order to make this race's points selections mostly balance. The most disadvantages you can normally take is 10. The second reason is that normally you cannot have a negative total of race points, you MUST make your points balance or come out positive.

†(These Are Custom Traits not found in Un-modded Master of Orion II)

"A'ight ladies, Y'all ready for this?"* You query, holding your key in its lock
*(BTW, you're not actually speaking English, but for the purposes of this story, I'm translating Orion into English. Your subjects will speak normal English but you and each of your lovers have a distinctive accent, in your case you talk like a person from a Southern USA rural area, the equivalent accent of the Orion empire's north-eastern colonies. You will see what the rest of them sound like soon.)

"Indubitably," Bestie responds in her Orion Upper Crust mannerisms.

"Too Roight Mate!" Morwyn enthuses in her Western Colonial Orion patois.

"Da Komrade!" Leia says in her Southern Fringe Exploratory Corps argot.

"On Three: Wun, Too, Three!" And with that, you each turn your key and then you throw the switch...

* And What Happens When Your Subjects Awake? *
