*What Is Your Name, What Kind Of Character Do You Become, And How Divergent Is The Game Because You Are "Inside" It?*
* Daniel Lucia * A Military Scout * EXTREMELY! *
Your name is Daniel Lucia, and you are a Parkor enthusiast. You've been a fan of Parkor demonstrations for years, watching videos on YouTube whenever you found a new one, and this will serve you well because you have been placed into the body of a military Scout specially trained to move safely about the crumbling infrastructure of Malton.
However, that's the good news, the bad news is that there are two other people inside this head with you: The Blood Ape, an angry vengeful ghost that is dominant when you're a Zombie, and Jason Vintner, the original inhabitant of this body. Jason was born nine years before the outbreak, and remember little other than the horror that is Post-Contagion Malton. He has died numerous times and due to these deaths is only physiologically about 18 years old even though he is 21 chronologically. Your personality forms the tipping point between these two opposed Forces, you will decide whether or not the two have control over the body they have shared for over 10 years.
You currently are sitting in a Police Station, heavily fortified, with a number of other beleaguered survivors sitting or lying around you, and your trusty shotgun across your knees, awaiting nightfall, and with it, the Zombies...
Here with you are 25 individuals:
Lucy 'Lucky' Vanderbilt: your unit's sergeant and one of the most major hardasses you've ever met. Lucy is in her mid-30s but more athletic and skilled than most women half or twice her age. She has all the survivor skills, and a few zombie ones, like 'Hug A Wall' (Ankle Grab), "Shambling Gait", and "Memories of Life".
Conner Fitzroy: your unit's Medic, another young survivor like yourself. He can't even Parkor yet, having been brought inside during the attack when the barricades had gaps and most of the unit entered.
Leroy Feinstein: one of the two 'privates' of your Squad, you all are privates except Lucy, but in the parlance of the units stationed in the city a "private" is a person with Military training who is focussed on firearms skills and hasn't learned to Parkor/Free-Run.
Jessica 'Jess' Bollinger: the other "Private" of your unit 'Jess' as she prefers to be called, is another Malton native, she's from the city's North-Western most suburb, but she has been deployed with you to the Dartside area for the foreseeable future.
Deborah Stevens: a young woman of uncertain origin, who claims to be the daughter of the former Lieutenant of this police station. She's not part of your unit, but she rolls with you none the less. Allegedly her father got dragged outside during a raid a few years ago and by the time she found him again his brain had rotted, meaning she could only revive him inside a fully active Necrotech Building with the help of a fully trained Necrotech Scientist, a service she could in no wise afford. She keeps him in a cell in the Drunk Tank, and he's stopped moving long ago, except on a few significant days of the year, like Her Birthday, His Anniversary, and Thanksgiving... As for her mother, she is thought to have died in the initial outbreaks while shopping at a mall, and neither of them has seen her since. 'Lieutenant Debby' as some of the other survivors call her, claims ownership of the Brailsford Plaza Police Department, (the building you're in,) and you all are here by her and the other Brailsford Officers permission, which can be revoked by the Lieutenant for a number of reasons, including being a death cultist, known murderer, breaking down the barricades without her orders, and failing to provide a meaningful service to the survivor group in the police station.
Randal F. Styles: better known as Patrol Sergeant Randal F. Styles, 'Randy' as he is also called, (though only by the other Brailsford Precinct officers,) is a man in his late 40s. He is a punctilious and formal sort of man who might have become the lieutenant instead of the daughter of the former lieutenant, but the rest of the Officers thought that would be a disaster. Like the Lieutenant, he is frightfully experienced and can free-run quite well for someone his age...
James Q. Cassidy: another Sergeant on the Brailsford Precinct roster James is not as experienced as Randal, but is 20 years his junior, so that's to be expected. Like the Lieutenant, James also is a 'Blue Blood', having been the son of a Police Officer and trained in police procedure from childhood, even after the contagion shattered the command structures of the police force to the point that each precinct was essentially a unit unto itself. James is highly trained as a combatant, but cannot Parkor, it just appears to not be something he's interested in learning. For this reason, he never leaves the police station.
Jebediah 'Jeb' Clarkson: a standard "Officer of the Law" Jebediah Clarkson, who goes by 'Jeb', is a very experienced officer, with almost all of the military skills, maxed out. He can free-run and has Familiarized himself with all the surrounding buildings, making him an excellent source of information on the situation around the police station and the general status of this neighborhood.
William 'Bill' Alexander: another standard Officer, 'Bill' is also experienced, but like James he seems disinterested in learning to free-run, so he guards the precinct and rarely ventures outside.
Kelly-Jane 'KJ' Sanderson: Officer 'KJ' (as she insists on being called,) is a relatively young officer, in fact, she's only 18, but she's grown up in post-outbreak Malton and is a better shot than a lot of military people she can Parkor quite well for as relative a novice as she is. She also is well trained as an E.M.T. The reason she is so multilayered in her skill set is that in this version of the game whenever you change state between zombie and human you can't access the EXP from the other form, and furthermore lose 100 EXP from the total you had in the form you just changed into, to a minimum of zero. This, in turn, means that most of the time when you die or are revived you start off with 0 EXP again, because as soon as you get enough EXP buy a new skill you will normally spend it, leaving you at bellow 100 EXP. Now, how does this relate to her having so many skills? She's never died. Been injured many times, been deathly ill fairly often, but never DIED. She's infected like everyone else, but she's survived for over a decade in post-outbreak Malton without dying once, an almost unheard of feat. She's done this by fleeing from the Zombies and Player Killers, rather than fighting. Technically she's not even actually a member of this department, and they know she's a fairweather friend, as soon as the situation in the neighborhood gets difficult she's moving on...
Bethany 'Beth' Washington: Bethany is a full member of the Brailsford Police Precinct, and a relative neophyte compared to the other officers mentioned thus far. She's not a complete noob like the last two on the roster, she at least can Parkor, but she is relatively inexperienced, having only Free-Running, Safe-House Operations, and Advanced Pistol Training besides her Basic Firearms Training.
Helga Pragman-Sinclair: Last of the full Officers of the Brailsford Police Precinct is Helga Pragman-Sinclair. Originally a file clerk at the McKay Lane Precinct in Old Arkham, she left the area after the early outbreak showed that the Arkham region was untenable. Though she's died almost every time she got close to being able to buy a new skill it's hoped that now that she's found a home with the Brailsford Precinct she can get some experience without dying. (The only practical skill she's been able to buy is Basic Firearms Training, which is the entry requirement for being a full Officer. She also knows Shopping, but that is of little value around here...)
'Jim' Jones: "Officer Jim" (as he prefers to be called,) is another youngster. He's green as Grass, can't free-run, barely knows how to use a gun, and shaky on Police Procedure, but his Hearts in the right place, "Serve And Protect" etc, and he's been accorded the rank of 'Junior Officer' with the precinct by the Lieutenant. This is partly because, like Her, he's a 'Blue Blood', and partly because everyone except for the two of them can tell they're sweet on each other. People have called them out on it, but they both deny it, to each other's face even. However, the heart wants what the heart wants...
Mr. Jeremy Crawford, Mrs. Velma Crawford, and Kelly Lucy Crawford, AKA "Katniss": the Crawford family were airdropped in a few days ago in a cargo crate because they had been identified as being carriers of the Zombie Virus. The CDC is investigating how they contracted it and whether a new quarantine is required, but the Crawfords only know that they were told they were infected and drooped into the city in a crate with a backpack full of supplies each and Rapiers they didn't know how to use... The older two Crawford's are taking it all rather badly, but Jason (the original inhabitant of this body) thinks that the 17, (almost 18,) year old girl who now insists on being called "Katniss" is adapting nicely, other than the minor case of disassociated identity and like he's one to talk... The Crawford's only real value to the precinct is as janitors, but they're doing the job diligently.
Timothy 'Tim' Oz and Mitchel 'Mit' Oz: these identical twin brothers claim to have been firemen, but something about them seems kind of odd. They don't have many skills but they seem pretty tough, and they keep asking to be issued S.W.A.T. armor so they can "Seriously kick some fucking zombie ass!"... They're pretty handy in a fight with their fireaxes, but seem a touch slow, and the Lieutenant doesn't like them much. (Nothing she can put her finger on mind you, but she doesn't like them.)
'Famous' Flint: this individual, who answers only to 'Flint', is a living legend among the Dartside survivors. A fireman before the outbreak he has learned almost every skill in both skill trees and apparently has mastered his 'murder ghost' to the point that he hunts other zombies whenever he dies. He's not an official part of the precinct group, but no-one is going to begrudge him crash space...
Oliver Wendell Jones: this huge black dude is a weightlifter, he wears glasses but he has a pair of safety goggles to protect them. He's not especially skilled due to repeatedly dying, but he's got a basic grounding in survivor skills, such as Firearms Training, Melee Weapon Training, Scout Safe House, and of course Bodybuilding. He wears a Flack Jacket that he got God only knows where.
Dustin McGrath: this guy is crazy as a fruit bat; thinks he's an actual Jedi, However, he's a skilled Medic and can operate Necrotech Equipment, so he's valuable to the precinct. He can also Parkor effortlessly, and is a wunderkind with a sword.
Cindy Washburn: another medical professional Cindy is much less experienced, barely a fully trained EMT. However, she's young and working toward learning Surgical Treatment Procedures.
Pamela Brewster: Pamela is an odd duck, because she's got only one survivor skill, "Free-Running", but is not military. This would almost certainly mean she's a Zombie spy, except that she spends all her time scavenging supplies and distributing them to the survivors in the precinct: running scouting patrols all the while...
"Valarie Frizzle": Valarie will not admit to any other name than the one listed above. She is not especially experienced but has the skills of Shopping, Bargain Hunting, Tagging, and Necrotech Employment. Her next item to buy as a survivor is going to be 'Free-Running'. However, there is something else significant about 'Valarie' that needs to be mentioned: you picked her up on the street outside of Blesley Mall in Gulsonside, and she's formed a relationship with Conner Fitzroy, your squad medic. The two of them are thick as thieves and disturbingly chipper together. This brings us to the last survivor...
Last, but the opposite of least: Mary 'Colleen' McLeish...
Ah, Mary.
Mary was also found wandering the streets, in Kempsterbank, and you saved her from a small mob of zed. She decided that this meant you were her one true love and has stuck with your squad (and more importantly you,) ever since.
Mary is not much in terms of skills, she can't parkor, has no firearms training, and is only armed with a fire ax, but she is adjusting nicely to life as a living survivor, and she seems to genuinely love you.
Mary is a short woman with red hair and freckles and dresses in whatever she can scavenge. Right now she is wearing a 'little black dress', leggings, sneakers, a winter coat, and a hand knitted scarf.
It is currently the 15th of December 2017 in Malton, and here at the police station a fairly festive mood prevails, You've gotten a Christmas tree from one of the abandoned lots where the survivors have been planting them during the summers for the past decade and are decorating it with Christmas decorations kept in a supply closet for the annual yearly Christmas celebrations. However, you also know that the zed will attack soon and you have to be ready for that, the night is their time and you are a group under siege. At least 30 zombies claw at the barricades nightly, and though you keep killing them they do not stay dead, as is the case with any human that dies in Malton. You all help to keep them on the other side of the barricades, but you are sure you cannot do so forever... However that is trouble for another time, a half-hour of daylight remains before the nightly assault, what do you wish to do with it?
