For a moment Rebecca and Julie locked eyes, the redhead pleading silently for help... But seeing the huge mass of other Pseudosects behind her... Julie chose to flee instead. Rebecca let out a muffled scream, tears leaking down her face as she was abandoned. Julie got to the door and as she went inside, she saw Rebecca overtaken by the swarm, clothing being torn apart as another Pseudosect mounted her rear and plunged inside. Not waiting around to suffer the same fate, Julie slammed the door shut. She backed up to the wall, breathing heavily and overcome with guilt... But she did what she had to do.

Taking out a flashlight she went down the stairs, staying alert. It was another five story apartment, with most of the doors she could see being boarded up. When she got to the third floor, the stairways were blocked by numerous desks, shelves, and other furniture effectively plugging the whole way. Groaning in frustration, she looked around. There was no way to get through these stairs, but she saw a map on the wall showing the whole third floor. The building curved like an L with her at the short end, and at the long end would be another set of stairs. Julie had to hope the other end was not blocked, otherwise she might have to go back through the roof or be stuck in this building... So she held her pistol ready and started walking down the corridor, alert for any sights or sounds. There were few lights on, most of them having been knocked out

When she got to the corner of the hall she hid around the corner and peeked around the corner. This hallway was much longer than the other, and there were a lot more apartment doors. All of the lights down this way were dead except for the ones at the end, and Julie could see the stairs were not blocked off. From where she was Julie could see that all but a few of the apartment doors were boarded up, with one door being slightly ajar. Other than that... It appeared the way was clear, just a straight walk to the stairs.
