(Subplot) Witchy Tactics

Rebecca wasn't quite sure how she had gotten into this situation. She had decided to amuse herself with some petty **** on a guy she met on a dating app, and now she was at war with a group of sixteen militant naked women in the US. It was possible the witch had bitten off more than she could chew here. These girls had taken down an entire magically backed organisation not long ago, and she was fighting them solo, at least until she could make some sort of alliance with the Director.

Perception was everything, and Rebecca wanted her foes to see her as an almost omnipotent being with virtually unlimited powers, but that wasn't the reality. In truth, she didn't have an endless supply of magical charge to ****. About half of it was being used to sustain her **** on James and the other half to do the same to her new nemesis Melanie. She had managed to squeeze out enough power to turn Lexie into a frog after her outburst at the meeting, not only because it was incredibly satisfying, but because she knew it would scare the rest of the glitches into submission for the time being. But that fear would only last so long. They were walking on eggshells at the moment, but what if they started to rebel and Rebecca could do nothing to punish them, as all of her energy was being used on James and Mel? She also knew that, now she had struck out at the glitches beloved ringleader Melanie, this was a war she couldn't back down from.

Thinking about this strategically, there was one very obvious and necessary move to make immediately. James would have to be pulled out of the app, for now at least. If this was a game of chess he wasn't even really a piece on the board. It made no sense devoting half her magical charge to tormenting him. Mel, on the other hand, could stay on the app as part of a bigger plan Rebecca was forming to win over the Director. Eventually she wanted all sixteen glitches on there, and probably James too for good measure. That would represent a total and extremely lucrative victory for the witch. In the meantime, she loved the irony of Mel technically achieving her goal of freeing James from the app by unwittingly taking his place in it.

As things stood, she could keep Melanie Does Anything running and still have enough charge left to happily zap two or maybe even three glitches a day if she needed to. If used cleverly, that should be enough to keep them scared and in line. Her regular spells usually wore off, as the glitches would soon discover when frog Lexie eventually turned back into Princess Charmless, but even temporary spells could cause some serious disruption.

Fortunately, spying on the group took next to no charge, and Rebecca had plenty of time on her hands to do just that, so anyone stepping out of line would quickly be made an example of. Or maybe just anyone she felt like randomly messing with might get zapped, both for her own entertainment and to keep the glitches constantly on their toes. In fact, if she played her cards right, this could be way more fun than she was having with James. Sixteen times the fun, to be precise.
