(Subplot) Talking to a Toad

"Watch what you are doing with those big, clumsy hands of yours" Tania croaked as Lexie carried her towards the bedroom she currently shared with April.

"Do you want to spend the evening in my nice, warm bedroom or the pond outside? Because I'm good with either" Lexie threatened as she set the toad down on her bedside table.

"We've never really talked before have we?" Tania noted "Though I knew from day one you didn't like me"

"It was so obvious you were up to no good" Lexie answered "The others just wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt because they thought you were hot"

"And you didn't?"

"In my experience, the hot ones are the ones you have to watch out for the most"

"An intriguing response" Tania remarked a little smugly.

"Fuck me, even as a toad you are full of yourself!" Lexis exhaled "You ain't so hot right now Missy, let me tell you"

"And whose fault is that?" the bespectacled amphibian grumbled "This had better be reversible, Alexis!"

"Or what? You'll stick your tongue out at me?" Lexie taunted, before her demeanour softened a little "Mel will fix you up fine, don't sweat it. And for what it's worth, I'm sorry. You had clearly suffered enough already without me getting my petty ****"

"I probably had it coming. But it was pretty dumb of you to put me in a shop if you didn't want me to get sold"

"Hey, I spent ten thousand fucking pounds getting you back! I didn't see you coming to buy me back when I got sold!"

"You went to lovely April's house, and I knew you would turn back at some point" Tania reasoned "You guys sent me to Rebecca, which is a fate I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Nonetheless, I do also apologise for my actions since coming here. I have no excuse for them. But I will say, I know far more about that witch than any of you do, and trust me when I say I want **** on her as much as anyone else"

"Fool me three times..." Lexie responded.

"But that's the whole point, Alexis. I never fooled you at all. So I will work with you. That way, if you think I'm up to my old tricks again, you can call me out"

"Okay, you have a deal, Tania Toadsworth" Lexie smirked "But I'm warning you, once you are back in human form I will be keeping a very close eye on you"

"Oh, I bet you will" Tania replied suggestively.

"I didn't mean it like that" Lexie giggled despite herself "And I'm not going to flirt with literal pond life. Maybe try again when you are back on two feet"

"Noted" Tania croaked "Now I hate to ask, but I think I need hydrating"

"I'll run you a bath in the sink" Lexie replied obligingly as she stood up "This is why I never keep pets. Way too much hassle"
