(Subplot) Rachel's Weird Roommate

Rachel Manzer returned from a long afternoon studying for her psychology course in the University library to find her strange roommate had also been hitting the books, except in her case it was a bunch of supposed spell tomes.

Rachel would never have chosen to room with Rebecca ordinarily. The pair weren't natural friends and her roommates bizarre fascination with the arcane was at best eccentric and at worst downright weird. However, the pretty and fiercely intelligent brunette had taken her place at Bristol University late in the day, having narrowly missed out on the grades she needed to secure her provisional spot at Cambridge, and had been assigned Rebecca, another latecomer, as her roomie. She was a local girl, unlike the wannabe witch, who had come to Bristol from London.

"Trying to find a spell to ace next weeks exams without revising for them?" Rachel quipped.

"No, just doing some research" Rebecca answered flatly.

She tried to hide her irritation as she closed her book self consciously. The aspiring sorceress hated that Rachel so obviously thought she was a crazy person and that magic wasn't real. She was always so flippant about it. And since Rebecca hadn't actually mastered any spells yet there really wasn't much she could do to prove her roommate wrong. At least not yet.

"That's a shame, because I could use some magical assistance to get me through these mid terns" Rachel joked as she climbed onto her bed and switched on the radio.

Now Rebecca was really frustrated. Any chance she had of concentrating on her craft that evening had been well and truly taken from her. Having a roommate sucked. But perhaps it didn't have to. She subtly eyed Rachel up as her companion sprawled herself out on her bed, flicking through some gossip magazine and humming along to whatever tune was now playing.

Rachel was irritating for sure, but also gorgeous to look at. And oh so deliciously transformable. And she was just going to be there in the same room, all the time, for a year at least. Rebecca could hardly have asked for a better subject to practice her spells on. And, although she hadn't quite managed to make any of them work yet, she knew she was nearly there. Rachel Manzer wouldn't be treating her witchcraft as a joke for much longer..
