(Subplot) Going home with April

Unsurprisingly, Lexie had made it the whole day without getting sold. She had a few grannies look at her but ultimately were more enthused by the gnomes around her.

Lexie was a bag of mixed emotions of having not been chose over a stupid knockoff Keebler elf but also gracious that she hadn’t been moved too far from her current place.

“Geez April! You’ve been staring at the frog all day even…” Chelsea as she was finishing her closing duties.

“I can’t help it! I’m just drawn to it and I think it’s really cute,” April said as she got closer to it. “I’m just impressed how they caught that expression and even touching it feels like it could just spring to live.” Lexie was internally smiling as she really appreciated April with each compliment of her stony form

“Look if you love it so much just take it home. It was a donation anyways and I doubt anyone would want that tacky thing,” Chelsea said with a chuckle.

(I swear when I’m human again I will…)

Her thought was interrupted when she felt her form lifted into April’s hands. “Hmm what shall I call you, Ms. Froggy?”

“How do you even know it’s a girl?” Chelsea chimed in.

“Oh that’s easy. You can tell by her feminine features,” April said confidently.

“I don’t see em. Let’s call it Toadsworth…” Chelsea said with a chuckle.

“Ewww no way…let’s try…Oh! I’m gonna call you Lily!” April said with glee. Lexie much more approved of that and truthfully it was very close to her name. Anything was better than Toadsworth.

“Kinda boring isn’t it?” Chelsea asked and not enthused by the name.

“I think it’s perfect. Well Lily and I will be heading home now. See you tomorrow, Chelsea!” April said holding her prize and entering her car. “Chelsea can’t appreciate the your beauty, Lily. I plan to keep you around for a very long time. I also have the perfect home for you and don’t worry it’s not in the garden. You are too perfect to be left in the dirt and outside all day.” Lily was a bit upset that she was getting further from everyone but at least it was someone from the shoppe so she still had a chance to get back to Mel and the others someday.
