(3) Pet Shop

Hagrid seemed excited about a new arrival at the local pet shop. It was normal to get an Owl for sending mail, but other exotic birds could be chosen.

Weather's eyes were drawn to a cage holding three... Chickens? No, they were too large and delicate looking, also silver and blue? The largest saw her coming and wrapped her wings around the other two.

"Ah... Seems they got a mother and two chicks." Heather turned to look at Hagrid, "There're Veela, French species. Powerful wind'n'fire magics. Only ever female, so they've to makeshift ter breed. Usually take human and pass as Witches. Tell ye what Heather, I have bin wanting' to see if I can breed a Veela with some of what I've raised. I'll take the chicks and you can have the mother as a messenger bird."

Apolline clucked miserably on Heather, her owner's shoulder. The girl seemed to pity her, perhaps in private she'll be able to make her rescue her daughters, but she doubted a first year student will be able to do much right away. Meaning until she can secretly train the redhead, her poor girls would be subject to crossbreeding experiments.
