"You're Fired!"

Mr. Fancy looked like he was ready to shit himself when I said it. After his brain had a moment to catch up he started with the usual lines. "Please spare me, I'll do anything you say. I'll pay you anything you want" and so on. It wasn't until he said, "Please don't burn me" that I realized he misunderstood me.

"I'm not going to kill you. Though that might be what you deserve. I'm relieving you of your position, you will no longer be the commandant of the city guard or the lord of the city. Someone else will be chosen to replace you. All of your assets will be seized and then given away in equal portions to the citizens of Turitz in compensation for having to put up with you for as long as they have."

I watched his reaction as I was defining his penalties. Anyone could have seen the changes as he went from annoyance to shock and then to rage as I continued.

"You will give a Public formal apology to the citizens of Turitz for your ignorance and stupidity. Then after all that is done, you will sign an indentured service contract no less than 3 years working as the lowest-ranked servant for the city guard."

None of the other guards were even looking in my direction anymore. They all seemed to want to be as far away from Mr. fancy as they could get for fear of being punished with him.

I was getting tired and guessed from the setting sun that it was getting late in the day as well so I looked to Limira. "Is there someplace in the city for me to sleep? I'm getting tired of being out here and we have a lot to do tomorrow."

Limira took a moment to shake off the shock she shared with everyone else present and told me there were a few Inns that travelers frequented and an estate reserved for use by Rogath but I couldn't access it yet.
