"What's a Galactus?"

"Kara? What's going on?" Gwen asked over the phone. "Who's this Zod, and what's a Galactus?"

"Jeez, where do I start with this...?" Kara answered. "To make a long story really short, Zod was a disgraced Kryptonian General that my uncle, Jor-El exiled to the Phantom Zone..."

"Phantom Zone?"

"Think a prison for the universe's worst criminals. Anyway, he obviously found a way out..."

"A bad Kryptonian... that's ominous.," Gwen said, dread in her voice.

"It gets worse," Kara answered. "He says he's the herald of Galactus... the thing that destroyed my home planet..."

"Good god..." Gwen shuddered. This was it. This was what Reed had warned her about -- it had to be. A planet devouring entity, and it had sent a herald to Earth. It had destroyed Kara's homeworld... and it was now on it's way to Gwen's. "So what're you planning on doing?"

"Kal & I are headed to National City right now. We're going to try to talk to Zod. See what we can find out about this Galactus..."

"Gotcha. You need any backup? I mean, I'm not sure how much help I'll be against a Kryptonian herald of a cosmic entity, but Sue & I can try and find a way to meet up with you..."

"I appreciate the offer, but we're not quite at that point yet," Kara answered.

"Got it. I'm gonna go visit a friend of mine, then," Gwen replied. "He may be able to help with this Galactus problem."

"OK, sounds good. I'll be in touch," Kara answered.

"You'd better be, Kara. I've, uh... grown kinda fond of you," Gwen admitted. "Talk soon."

Kara was a little taken aback by Gwen's last comment before hanging up. She'd grown close with Gwen since arriving -- that much was obvious -- but she'd never stopped to think how close they'd gotten. She'd also developed a strong bond with Sue in the short time they'd gotten to know each other... and the trio made an awesome team. This only strengthened her resolve as she sped to National City -- she'd do everything in her power to protect this world and her friends.

Galactus had taken Krypton from her. Her home. She would not let it happen again.
