"Sweetie," Erica's mom said. "You work so hard at school, but I've heard stories what your so-called friends do to you all the time." Erica blushed at the insinuation, but she had complained about some of those experiences to her mom. She took both of her daughter's hands and held them. "You are my only daughter. I only want what's best for you, and the only way I know how to do that is to get you away from here. Even if it's just for a little bit." She pulled Erica in towards her and hugged her tight. "I won't **** you, Sweetie. You have to make your own decision."

She let go of her daughter and stepped back, looking her in the eye, trying to see what she was thinking.
