Chapter 25

Get a little closer?
"Not that good of a swimmer."
“Not really a good swimmer. I grew up in a forest” I shook my head. “You can come on shore if you want to get better acquainted.”
“Careful. This one is cleaver.” The one in front gave me a sly look stopping her friend from coming on shore. I was several feet from the water. “What brings you to our cove stranger?”
“Has word of our beauty spread so far.” The naughty one smiled.
“I need something from you. A nereid pearl.”
“Ewe. Naughty human. That's mighty forward of you. I like this one.” One said as she hoped up on a rock. I watched her body change as the water ran off of her. Her skin turning from blue to white. Scaled fins turning into legs and webbed hands turning to normal.. She leaned back on her arms to show off her body. Her tits pointing upward. I had heard nymphs were the embodiment of feminine perfection. If anything the stories I heard do not do them justice.
“I am sure Dana here might have one. No dick on land or in sea has touched her lips above or down below.” The lead one said as she circled the third one who had been quit until now. She almost looked like I had been the first human she had ever seen though I knew how she felt.
“But you want something in return. What will it be?” I said.
“Very well cleaver hunter. A group of harpies has started living on a nearby cliff. They take our food and attack us any time they can. Drive us and humans away from the best places for fishing. If you can drive them off for us and we will gladly help you.”
“Then a bargain has been struck.” I nodded and headed off the way I came. Now I just had to find the harpies. First I did a little reading then I stashed my satchel nearby so I had one less thing to carry. The book said there was no reasoning with them and that they were humanoid in appearance but were more beast then woman in nature. They lived only for food and only used simple stone when their talons were not sharp enough to do the job.
Finding them was a bit of a catch. If the fisher men knew they would have probably have already slaughtered the beast. I just waited till I saw one and headed that way. Getting there wasn't easy to say the least as I had to climb rocks and jump crevices along the way but that was the point. They wanted their nest to be somewhere no human or animal could get to it.
I knew I was getting close when I found several large feathers along the path toward the ocean. As I neared the cliffs I could here them chattering for lack of a better word. It was more awful then goblin and that was saying something. I crouched down and approached the cliff face. I was above them now. They had obviously built their nest under the cliff face I was on to provide shelter from the elements. As I peeked down on them I saw four of them huddled around what I presumed was the fisherman they had killed. One chewed on an arm she had torn off while the others tore into his body. One feeding on his thigh while the other had her face in his intestines. I had been hesitant to write them off as unreasonable and purely animal but the now I saw them only as viscous beast. I debated my options for half a second. Do I take them head on and get up close and personal before they had a chance to escape or fight them from a far with my bow.
