Debbi had decided that her best strategy would be to embrace the charity drive in as dignified a manner as she could manage and pretend that it was all OK with her. But she nevertheless cringed when confronted with the front page of the local newspaper that Jody was showing to her. They were having coffee in the college canteen after Debbi's latest class.

There was a photo of a smartly dressed Debbi at her office desk. She had talked briefly with this girl Kayleigh from the paper but most of the details had been fed to the rookie reporter by her friend Jody. "I'm not a top exec at the company" objected Debbi as she read. "Oh don't do yourself down, you manage a team don't you ?" replied Jody.

"Look, it talks all about the company and mentions the big corporate donation they've made. Jeff must be pleased as I'm sure you know. And the sponsorship just keeps on growing, especially now we've been round the company offices !"
