Chapter 12 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

What words of encouragement will I give Cornelia?

"I love you!" (Pink Trigger)

With my Pink Trigger, I summoned a brilliantly pink flag, adorned with a little picture of Cornelia's pouting face on it. I placed a Cornelia doll onto the desk in front of me. I hung my decorative Cornelia wall-scroll on the desks behind me. Then, I cupped both hands to my mouth and began to scream, my voice echoing throughout the court room.

"I LOVE YOU, CORNELIAAAAA!!"

"Wha-wha-wha-?!"

No, no, Cornelia. This is a demonstration. I'm your adoring fan (for real). Your innocence, combined with your strong sense of justice, have captured my heart (honestly). There is nothing unusual about this.

"But... But I don't think I can continue prosecuting if I have a fan section. Would I have a fan section? I've never seen one in court before..." she pouted, pressing her fingers together sheepishly.

Ah... Cornelia, you're just too cute. When the other angels see how cute you are, trust me: they'll all be praising you in this way. You're going to become the first angel to ever have their own cheering section. That's because I'm going to start the Cornelia fan club myself! We'll attend every case you have and cheer for you so hard, there's no way the witch's side will be able to mount a defense against you! You'll have a 100% victory rate!

"Not even Dlanor has a 100% victory rate..."

You'll be the first!

"Wouldn't a 100% victory rate mean that some innocent people are being incriminated as well?"

Come now, Cornelia. That's for people like Dlanor to worry about, not you! You don't have any doubt that witches are sinners, right? That's essentially what it means to be a witch, isn't it?

"Dlanor told me that all magic isn't inherently evil..."

Grr... Dlanor, stop butting into this story. I'm trying to talk to your cute kouhai right now...

As if in response to my plea, the lady herself suddenly appeared. She stared between the two of us for a moment, before introducing herself. Cornelia wasted no time telling her what we were doing. Dlanor turned to me and spoke calmly; she knew this argument inside and out. "A 100% victory rate is not something to be DESIRED. You're not a Witch of Certainty, are you, Inquisitor HIP? Try to make room for miracles as WELL..."

Fine. Yes. You're right, Dlanor. Now let's move on-

"Please allow me to speak, Dlanor!" Cornelia interrupted my agreement. "I don't see how any witch we try can ever claim to be innocent. Being a witch requires using magic for trickery, isn't that correct? If that is the case, then doesn't it stand to reason that all witches are inherently criminals in our court, which upholds the tenants of the mystery genre?"

Wait... no. I don't care about mystery or fantasy. Don't drag me into this mystery vs. fantasy nonsense that your story always gets bogged down in.

I spent the next few hours listening to these two debate the nature of witches. At some point, seeing my window of opportunity closing, I pulled out my Pink Trigger revolver and stuck it to my head. No one was watching me when I pulled the trigger.

Ah... Cornelia... You have a responsibility to your fan club. Treat us more lovingly next time...
