"For the Fairest"

"Damn it, they got here before us...!" Natasha hissed with frustration as the SHIELD transport neared Olympus. "Westbrook, how close do you think you can get us to the mountain summit?"

"I can get you a little closer, but there's a massive electrical disturbance surrounding the mountain... it'll be a bit of a climb for you ladies," the pilot answered.

"Zeus must have been drawn into the chaos already... that will make things that much more difficult," Diana said grimly. "The Apple of Discord is likely in play..."

"We'll just have to hope the Spear of Leonidas can give us an edge," Lara said, looking over the relic in her hand. "I guess we'll find out when we're dealing with the gods."

The SHIELD pilot soon landed the transport, opening the hatch and letting Natasha, Lara, & Diana out. "This is as close as I can get you -- good luck the rest of the way."

"Roger that. Now get clear of the mountain ASAP -- we don't know how bad this is going to get," Natasha told the pilot, who quickly pulled back. "Let's move. Diana, you know the mountain best -- lead the way."

The trio began their ascent, and it wasn't long before they found themselves approaching a chaotic scene. "What the hell is going on...?" Natasha wondered aloud as she observed the Olympians clashing with one another.

"The Apple of Discord... the goddesses must be under its spell," Diana said grimly. "They must be commanding these people to retrieve it for them..."

"Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, all feuding over the Apple of Discord... is this all truly over vanity?" Lara asked Diana.

"Eris used the Apple of Discord to twist the desires of the goddesses, causes them to act in ways they wouldn't usually act. That's why it was hidden away," Diana explained. "That's why we need to get it back."

Natasha let out a frustrated sigh as she surveyed the scene. "Judging by the violent frenzy over there, we're not getting anywhere near the apple... not anytime soon... and this will turn into a bloodbath if we don't do anything. Any ideas, you two?"

"One. For the apple to maintain its hold, Eris needs to focus her magic on the apple. If we can incapacitate her, **** her to lose consciousness, we can sever that link," Diana explained. "But she's nowhere to be found here..."

"Which probably means this was meant as a distraction," Natasha surmised. "Let's keep moving..."

"No need, ladies. I can deal with Eris on my own," Deathstroke interrupted, approaching the trio. He was armed with the Shield of Gigantes and an ancient looking sword -- definitely another relic he'd unearthed for his contract. "Not to mention any other Olympian that gets in my way..."
