"Auntie?"

Timidly, Jessica let out a quiet "Auntie?" and listened. Jessica hands had withdrew, as if trying to take up as little space as possible.

The soft noises stopped. Jessica stood in the cramped foyer, eyes adjusting enough to lighting to see that the blood trail led to her Aunt's bedroom. On the side table was her aunt's prescribed blood treatment injectors. A strange ping of relief went through her head, glad her aunt was staying loyal to her medicine schedule.

Distracted, her aunt's door broke in half and a large furred beast crashed through it, blood coating its fur, giving it strange drenched look. Jessica cowered at the shrapnel, as splinters embedded itself into her. Drawing her own blood.
The beast lunged again, catching her with its strangely human grip, but its fingers wrapped around her abdomen.
Before Jessica could react further, its maw opened and bit into the side of her neck. Shock set in, and she didn't feel much of what happened next.
