"Art is vulnerability"

(Originally written in Spanish, and translated somewhat loosely, by yours truly.)

It was the first day on the job, and Magi went to the museum thirty minutes before opening with anticipation and dressed normally. After five minutes, the art director of the museum came out to meet her.

"Ah," the director began, "you must be here for the job."

"Yes, of course," Magi answered. It was only then that she realized that she was the only one in the group.

"Well, you're very brave to be subject to what's about to happen."

"Huh???"

"You did read the ad, right?"

"Uhh, yeah..."

"Here is your sign," the director placed a small sign on Magi which had the words "TAKE MY CLOTHES / TAKE MY DIGNITY" written on it, "now, you have to stay in this room for the next five hours, and the visitors can give you or take away whatever clothes they want. Whatever clothing is left at the end is what you can wear for the rest of the job, whether you're in the museum or not. Of course, the visitors are encouraged to draw whatever scenes evolve."

"You're not saying that if I end up naked after five hours, that I have to stay naked 24 hours a day?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying. If that happens and I catch you wearing clothes, even at your own house, you're fired. And you're fired if you take the sign off. You need to take the risk of life, given that art is vulnerability, and the human condition is nothing more than to live in nature. Your time begins now, do not disappoint me."

With that, the director left and Magi was left alone with the first visitors of the day.
