"...Hannah's punishments."

"My punishments?" Hannah asks you, looking a bit confused as to what you mean.

"Yes," you say, before elaborating, "As the owner of your punishments, anyone who thinks you need to be punished for your behavior needs to come to me to decide what your sentence should be. And of course, whatever I say goes. Even if what I choose wouldn't be appropriate for anyone else who committed the same offense, any ruling I give for you is absolute, and will be enforced by myself and everyone else who can do so, such as your mother or teachers, to the fullest extent possible. I can also give you punishments myself for any offense I see worthy of them, since as the owner of your punishments I can dole them out as freely as I want. Do you get what I'm talking about now?"

Hannah is silent at first, and for a moment you think that you might have pushed things too far. However, after taking several seconds to process what you said, she nods and says, "Yeah, that makes sense."

"And it's a good thing you clarified that too," Miriam said, "Now that I know, I'll need to make sure I have your number so I can call you if Hannah needs to be punished."

"I'll write it down for you before I go," you tell her. After a moment's thought, you add, "But first, I think a practical demonstration is in order. Luckily for us, Hannah is due for a punishment right about now."

"What?" the goth girl says in shock, "What for?"

"For being dismissive to me after I just told you that I'm your landlord," you answer.

To your surprise, Hannah scowls at this, "Are you serious? That's total bullshit!"

To your even bigger surprise, Miriam immediately leaps to your defense, "Watch your tongue, young lady! John just got done explaining to us why he has the right to punish you however and whenever he sees fit, and you have the gall to mouth off to him the moment he decides to exercise that right? I thought I raised you better than that! If you don't apologize to him right now, I'm going to ask him if he can add another punishment on top of the one you're already getting!"

Hannah goes through several emotions over the span of the next few seconds. First shock at her mother's scolding, then sulking, then finally sighs and mutters, "Yeah... yeah, you're right Mom. Sorry, John."

"I understand," you tell her, "It's a rather big change to your status quo, so it's only natural that the transition will be kind of rough."

"Heh, true that," she says, before awkwardly asking, "So, uh... what's my punishment? Hopefully nothing too bad. I mean, being a little dismissive isn't that big of a deal, right?"

"I'll be the judge of that," you reply, thinking about what Hannah's first 'punishment' should be... and whether Miriam's scolding is enough for her daughter to avoid a second punishment. The answer to both is obviously 'whatever you want it to be', since you have total dominion in that aspect of Hannah's life now, but the question of what exactly that is still something you need to decide on.
