"Ugh, we could literally be anywhere but in here!" Cindy were complaining.

"Why would you want to be anywhere but here, only the best place on Earth". Josh responded.

"Yeah, if you're a nerd!"

"And I'm proud of it. Besides, its tradition. We always come here on the first sunday of summer."

"Yeah, when we were 12."

"We did it last year! We were 19."

"Well, maybe it's time for a change."

Dale turned toward Cindy as if what she just proposed a duel to the ****. "What do you mean?"

Cindy's gaze was on the floor, her foot drawing along the ground. "We could be at the beach right. Getting tanned, drinking..."

"Why do you want to be at the beach, you're literally ginger..."

"...Fred is there right now. Probably without a shirt."

"...Ah, now I understand."

Dale turned back to the books. "No, you owe me this."

Cindy let out a laugh. "I owe you? How do I owe you?"

Dale was looking through the book on the shelves. "It's tradition."

"Tradition is meant to be broken."

Dale was avoiding Cindy's eyes. "If that's how you truly feel, then sure, leave me."

*Leave you? Dude, are you playing hurt? Trying to guilt me into staying?"

"I don't know what you are talking about."

A smirk was spreading on Cindy's face, "Come on, you've never been good at sulking."

"I'm not sulking. If you truly don't want to hang out with me anymore, that's fine. Please leave me alone."

Cindy frowned, "Dale, are you serious? Why are you mad that I want to go to the beach."

"I'm not mad. If you don't want to hang out with me, then feel free to leave me."

Cindy looked at Dale. "Dude, you're being weird. Its not like I don't want to hang out with you. Maybe just not today.

"Fine."

"Dale!"

"What?"

"You're being rude."

"I'm not the one leaving. Like last weekend."

"What are you on about?"

"And the weekend after that. And all the last fridays. Actually, I think its ovr two months ago since we last hung out."

"What do you mean? We hang out at school all the time."

"That's not the same as hanging out. That's just practical stuff. Everyday stuff."

"Hanging out everyday is not enough for you?!"

"No! it's not the same! I..." Dale finally pulled himself away from the shelves and meet Cindy's eyes. "Fine, I know how it sounds, its just, lately I feel like we're doing stuff togather because we have to. I've missed just doing some random stuff or adventure with you. Like we used to. And I really looked forward to today, is all. I know its pathetic, sorry. If you want to go the beach, just go. Its fine."

Cindy pulled back. Had she been avoiding Dale lately without realizing it? "No, its fine, the beach won't go anywere. Let's find a good advendture book and get on with this already. Like we used to." Cindy sent Dale a smile.

Dale's eyes lit up, "Really? You wouldn't want to be at the party more? It's fine if you do, really."

Cindy shrugged, "No its fine. Let's get this adventure started already. Found a book yet?"

"No. Not surprising, we have been doing this for 15 years. Maybe we've done them all?"

"What about that one?" Cindy points to a oddly placed book on the lowest shelf. It stands alone, like the other books have been tryong to get away from it.

Dale frowns, "Was that there before?"

"Course it was. Do you thiink books can fly or some shit?"

"No, I just, felt like I already looked there." Dale kneels and take out the book. Its more like a large tome, old, telling from the dust that covers it.

"The Fantastic Tale. Odd title." Dale read out.

"Very informative."

Dale laughed and opened the tome. "Hmm, odd."

"What?"

"There are blanks and missing sentences." Dale turned. through the tome, "There are even whole empty pages."

"That is strange." Cindy closed the distance and touched the book as well to get a better view. "Let me see-"

As soon as Cindy touched the book, a terrible light started coming out of the book, blinding Dale and Cindy.

"WHAT'S HAPPENING?!"

"I DON'T KNOW!"

Dale and Cindy soon found themselves lifted from the ground and slowly turning in the air. Up became down until it was impossible to tells which way was which, but one thing was certain: they were being pulled toward the book.

Dale found himself falling, Cindy felt her legs twist and bend, stretched into impossible shapes to fit into the book.

Once it was over, and the light faded away, there was no more Dale or Cindy, only the large, old tome on the floor...

INTO THE STORY!

Who finds the tome? Who holds Dale and Cindy's fate in their hands?
