Rise of the Intern - The Story

Hi everyone,

I'm still overwhelmed by how quickly and clearly the vote in my little poll turned out. You've decided that I'll write the story about the rise of the intern and then build the game based on it.

So, here are the first chapters of the story, as promised. More will follow one after the other.

It will be along the lines of something like the main path, without giving too much away about the game that will follow, so that it remains interesting.

If you have any further suggestions or there is something you don't like, please let me know.

On her first day at the new company, Emily entered the open-plan office like someone who had been there hundreds of times before. She didn't show the usual uncertainty of an intern. No, she was surrounded by an aura as if she knew everything and was afraid of nothing.

Nevertheless, or perhaps because of this, all eyes turned to her. The bright white blouse, the dark skirt, the neatly tied tie. Everything about her radiated professionalism. And yet there was something else beneath the surface that could be felt rather than seen.

The sparkle in her eyes as she surveyed the people working in the office made it difficult to tell whether she saw them as colleagues or as prey. And her smile was as mysterious as it was inviting. “Come closer,” it seemed to say, “you'll see what you get out of it.”

The men at their desks tried not to stare at her – and failed miserably. The women among the employees looked at her with open hostility or did their best to ignore her. Unimpressed, she let her gaze wander over those present in search of her first “victim” – although the person in question would probably not describe themselves as such.

At least not yet.
