Ripe for the Taking

Ripe for the Taking

A new mom discovers she's never been more desirable—and temptation is everywhere.

Chapter 1 by Kristobal Kristobal

Emily sat at the edge of the bed, her fingers absently tracing the curved hem of her nursing tank. The pale morning light slanted in through the window blinds, painting thin stripes across the carpet, the crib, her bare legs. Behind her, Chloe stirred softly but didn’t wake. The hum of the baby monitor ticked in the background like a heartbeat.

Jason had already left. He moved like that lately—quiet, efficient, distracted. Always a meeting, always another deadline, always a quick peck on the forehead as if that counted as affection. They hadn’t made love since the baby. They hadn’t really kissed in weeks.

Emily exhaled, slow and shallow. Her body felt foreign and familiar all at once: tender in some places, fuller in others. Her breasts were heavy with milk, her stomach still softer than she liked. But her skin was flushed warm from the shower, her lips pink and parted, and her thighs—when she glanced sideways in the mirror—looked softer, thicker, sensual in a way she hadn’t noticed before.

She tugged the tank down and stood, her reflection catching her again.

It wasn’t vanity. It was curiosity. Had she changed that much? Or had she always been this woman, this shape, this energy? There were moments—fleeting, unspoken—when she caught strangers looking at her lately. At the store. At the gym. Even at the office.

Something in their gaze was different now.

Not pity. Not politeness.

Hunger.

She hadn’t acted on any of it, of course. But she’d noticed. She remembered. She was still a woman beneath the mother.

Emily glanced at the clock. Chloe would be up soon. The day stretched ahead—quiet, domestic, routine. And yet… she felt a pull. A restlessness. A need to go somewhere, do something, feel something outside this house.

Where will Emily go today?
