Processor of Remnant

Control of all, split between many

Chapter 1 by MaxFlames123 MaxFlames123

Jaune wasn’t having the best day, and having to wait almost three hours for the Beacon staff to find his package was not making it any better. Cardin had beaten him in combat class again, this time even showing him up by using one of his teammates’ weapons to do so. Then Nora decided in her infinite wisdom that his bed was the perfect place to enjoy a nice plate of pancakes instead of going to class, so he was chastised for not ensuring she was there, and his bed was soaked in syrup. Then Weiss shot down a date with him… again, even using her semblance to slam the door in his face.

He let out a sigh as he leaned against the wall, wondering even what this package even was at this point. A distant relative apparently found out he was in Beacon and sent it to him, saying it was something from some upper class people whose ‘patriarch’ died? He reached for his scroll to check the message again, only to be startled by a thud beside him. “Sorry that took so long, it actually came in like a week ago.” The staff member said as Jaune turned to see the massive box, which was larger than his upper body!

“Well… great.” He muttered to himself as he carefully picked it up and began to carry it to his team's room, though he struggled with the weight of the thing. Seriously, what was this thing, and why was it so big? Could he even fit it into his team's room? They already struggled with space with all four beds on the floor, then the privacy curtains for each side made the room even harder to house anything more than the essentials without messing that up.

He pushed open the door with his side as he saw no one else was in the room, which would mean he hopefully had time to look through the box and decide if it was worth the trouble of keeping. He placed the box down with a thud, and ripped off the tape. Inside there was… a massively outdated computer? He pulled out the monitor, which was as large as his head mind you, and placed it down on the nearest desk, before removing the actual computer itself and placing it underneath the desk. He then struggled for a few minutes trying to get the whole thing hooked up correctly, with some cords seeming to be not used for some reason and one of them flat out missing, but eventually, he got the thing all set up, and he turned it on.

It clanked to life as the screen appeared faster then he could blink, an oddity for something this old.

{Welcome to the World Processor: Error: NoUserIdentified}.

“No user? That’s odd, why isn’t there a sign in page then?” He asked himself as he sat down, and questioned the name a bit. He never heard of that sort of system before, even if he wasn’t the most knowledgeable on the history of computers.

{Would you like to register a new user to World Processor?}

“Uh, sure why not?” He said as he quickly typed in his name, and the page changed to a notepad-like set up with multiple lines, each numbered, and his name at the top. A few seconds later, a popup filled the page.

{Welcome to the World Processor: Jaune Arc! You have been given a great gift, the ability to rewrite reality! Please type whatever you would like into one of the numbered lines, and it will come true for you and everyone else in this world! If you would like people to notice any changes, you can do that by adding a ‘!’ at the end of the line.}

“... Seriously? Did they really get me a gag gift of this size?” Jaune asked himself as the pop-up disappeared, leaving him with only the notepad itself.

{0000:_}

He stared at it for a moment, before sighing and beginning to type out a line, as he might as well give it a try before packing it back away to be put into some storage facility.

{0000: Team JNPR’s room is now much larger, with a good amount of personal space for everyone}

He smiled a bit at the idea of that, but knew there was no way this thing was real. He slowly turned around, only to see the room empty of beds and dressers, and a couch in the middle facing a TV? “What the… t-this has to be a trick right? Like that Neo person Yang fought’s semblance?” He asked as he got up, noticing four doors on the sides of the rooms. Sure, a Semblance could do some crazy things, and they were different for every person, but Jaune doubted a Semblance could so something like this so quickly.

He slowly walked over to one and opened it up, and saw it was a room filled with trophies, old sponsorship papers, and more? Checking the closest one, it was Pyrrah’s? But she had all of this sort of thing stored away right? She… didn’t have room… He quickly walked into the room, and managed to confirm that some way, somehow, this one was in fact bigger than the main room could have been, so unless he was actually going mad, the room was bigger…

The computer WORKED? Jaune stumbled back out, freaking out at that realization. He had just manipulated something to change the world, and it was so… SIMPLE? He quickly ran out of his Team’s room and over Team RWBY’s and threw open the door.

Luckily enough, it seemed all of his team were there as well, with everyone looking up at him as he struggled to calm himself down. “Uh… you ok Vomit boy?” Yang said, slowly getting up from her phone, with Pyrrah jumping to her feet not long after.

“No, gotta, look…. Agh, j-just, look at our room!” Jaune said, his team looking between each other and slowly making their way back towards it, with Team Rwby following along, not having anything better to do. He quickly pointed into the room, and to his surprise, everyone looked to him confused or annoyed.

“Jaune, you don’t have to flaunt your room to us just because you had a Coed team you know.” Weiss said to him, already turning to leave.

Jaune wanted to smack himself, or course none of the noticed, he didn’t end it with an exclamation mark. “Ugh… g-give me one second!” He said as he ran back in and tried to add on the needed mark, only to have an Error pop up instead.

{Error: Editing previous commands is no longer a feature. If you would like to undo or change anything that happened before, a new line will be needed}

Damn it, that was annoying. “Ugh… o-on s-second thought, I-I think you all need to get in here to s-see what I mean!” He said, as everyone reluctantly stepped in. He quickly walked over to another door, and quickly opened it up, and managed to luck out on it being his own room… with his bed still soaked by syrup. “A-As y-you c-can see, Nora had earlier gotten m-my bed covered in syrup.”

“Sorry!” Nora yelled back, forcing Jaune to let out a small sigh as he walked back over to the computer, and wrote a new command.

{0001: Jaune Arc’s bed is clean and perfectly made!}\

He turned back around as everyone else jumped. “Uh, Jaune? Did you suddenly discover your semblance?” Ruby asked as she stepped into his room and touched his bed, shocked at how clean it suddenly was.

“No, that, and the current state of this room, is all thanks to this computer.” He said as he placed a hand on it, and to his surprise, everyone else quickly looked between each other worriedly. Sure, he had expected them all to be-

“MINE!” Nora yelled as she ran towards him, only to be outpaced by Ruby with her semblance, who was then pulled back by Blake with Gambol Shroud. Jaune stumbled back as Yang quickly walked up to him as well, only for everyone other than Pyrrha to be thrown back by seemingly nothing, meaning she had used her semblance.

“Look,” She began as her hand was placed upon the screen of the computer, quickly corrupting the image and making the text unreadable, “We all want to use this thing for our own reasons, no matter what they might be. But if we were to fight over it, what would be the likelihood Ozpen would take it and we would never see it again?”

“I could beat everyone else to it before that could happen!” Yang said as she moved her arms towards one another to undo her gauntlets as Pyrrha sighed.

“How about this instead? We each get to use the computer, but we all get only one change per day. That way, if anyone goes ‘too far’ with it, we can fix things before it gets too out of control?” Everyone, except Jaune who was still confused as to why everyone wanted the thing so badly, glared at her, leaving her to reach down towards the actual computer itself. “Or I could just use my semblance to tear the thing apart from the inside out and no one gets to use it…”

Everyone quickly agreed to the Amazon’s terms, as she let out a smile and pulled her hands away. “Good. Now you all stay there while I make the change to keep you all honest on this one.” She said, as she sat down and inputted her own name as a user, quickly skimming over the pop up, before typing.

{0000: Everyone who uses the World Processor is limited to only one change per day!}

{Warning: User Pyrrha’s changes involve the World Processor itself. In order to preserve consistency between users, would user Kyle like to make this change permanent?}

Pyrrha stares at the screen for a moment, and with a small sigh, types ‘yes’, before her mouse quickly is replaced by a lock symbol.

“Alright then, everything is set up.” She said as she stood back up, and placed her hand back on the screen after giving the others enough time to see her change. “Now, let's all wait till tomorrow to do anything, please? If we only get one per day, we should think it through.”

Everyone groaned a half hearted agreement, knowing she held the power at the moment. She freed them from her semblance as they all left, muttering under their breath about her. Well, all of them other than Jaune. “Uh… Pyrrha? Are you sure using it is a good idea? What happens if someone uses it to do something that hurts a lot of people, but no one can notice it?”

“Don’t worry Jaune, you can always use your first change to the world to make it so you would know about all of them, if you would want that.”

“... well, it would actually be my third…” Jaune said sheepishly and Pyrrha let out a small laugh.

So, does anyone try to mess with the computer before the next day?
