Fresh Meat
Chapter 1

Jaden was overjoyed to finally be out of his small Texas town and to move to the city and get a new run at life. As soon as his parents dropped him off it felt like he could finally breathe. He loved his parents but he would not miss living in the backwater. Jaden had been bullied his whole life, nothing ever too serious but his small frame and girlish mannerisms had made him a target on every Soccer field he’d stepped foot on despite being a decent player and the classroom hadn’t been much different. He had friends and even a girlfriend for awhile but nothing that he would miss now that he was away. He’d always kind of wanted to date a guy but in that town it had felt like a **** sentence. All he ever got was a kiss. Now all of the possibilities were open and he wasn’t going to let any slip.
Once he made it through orientation, he dropped his stuff off at his dorm room. It was a triple but his roomates hadn’t shown up yet. First order of business, join a frat. He had debated this for a long time but it felt like the best option to make friends quickly and to reassert some control over his life. The first year would be rough based on what he had heard, but it was an investment for what would come next.
Second order of business was to join a rec league for soccer. He wasn’t good enough now to play for the college team, but a year of training and he felt he would be ready to go out for tryouts next year.
Jaden threw on a white tshirt and jeans with his reliable sneakers and made his way down to ‘frat row’. This street housed most of the currently sanctioned fraternities and getting his name on the list to rush and join one would take him most of the day. The street was filled with people, it looked like a block party. Music played from all sides, clashing genres and songs and it all turned into an exciting mess of noise and cheers. Jaden made his way through the throng to Kai Alpha Omega, a popular fraternity with an academic lean. He stepped into a line that appeared to be forming outside and began to wait. He was about 50 feet from the door, a decent spot in line and he watched as the young people around him enjoyed themselves. A truck slowly made its way down the street, throwing beer cans at random to people that it passed. Someone from the truck pointed at Jaden and tossed a perfect spiral, which Jaden caught with both hands and held it up. They cheered and chanted “chug chug chug”. Jaden popped the tab and pulled from the warm wheaty lite beer until his throat felt like it was on fire. He took a breath and burped loudly. The person behind him in line grabbed the beer.
“Chug check.” He said and poured the contents out onto the ground. A steady stream frothed to the ground as Jaden stood awkwardly. “You need some practice little buddy.” The guy said.
“Yah, not so good huh?” Jaden said awkwardly.
“You’re in the right place to get used to it. Channing.” He offered his hand.
“Jaden.” He shook it, noticing how much weight was behind Channings shake he tried to match it but his arm shook limply.
“Could probably work on that too.” Channing laughed.
They talked for awhile, it was hot and they were both itching to get to the door but the line moved slowly. Channing was from Iowa and built like short building. His shoulders were broad and his arms red and muscular. He was amicable and friendly and Jaden got excited, he felt like he fit in.
Soon enough they arrived to the door.
“Name.” The guy in the polo shirt at the front said.
“Jaden.”
“Occupation?”
“Uh, none currently.” Jaden was taken aback.
“Im just kidding, get in their fresh meat.” He slapped Jaden hard on the ass. After doing so he looked down at him for a second and then moved on the Channing. Jaden’s ass was plump for a guys and it didn’t help that he had yelped a bit when the guy struck him.
Jaden moved into the house which was mostly filled with guys, people who lived there and people who wanted to.
“Welcome in.” A frat member in a cowboy hat came up to Jaden.
“Hi, thanks.” Jaden felt awkward.
What proceeded was dozens of short awkward conversations repeating the same basic details for almost an hour with various different fraternity brothers. Jaden got the sense from watching other recruits that the goal was to make as many good first impressions as possible. It became clear that Jaden did not quite fit in. Most of the guys were either fat or muscular and all of them were cool and comfortable despite the heat and crowding. Jaden felt small and insignificant and his hopes to get recruited diminished as he waded his way through one awkward conversation after another.
At one point Jaden ran into Channing.
“Hows it goin for you?” Channing asked.
“Good I think. Lot of cool guys here.” Jaden lied.
“Yah, this spots pretty cool. You coming to the rush night thing?”
“Yah.” Jaden lied again.
“Good, if you get invited youre basically guaranteed to get in, so looks like were good as gold.” Channing said. Jaden felt crappy after this. As he talked to Channing he noticed two of the brothers talking in the corner. They hadn’t been mingling the way the rest did but they were both staring at Jaden and exchanging hushed words. Jaden was ready to leave and figure out a whole new plan for his fresh start. He made an excuse to Channing and made his way towards the door.
As he pushed through the two brothers who had been staring at him caught up and stopped him.
“Come over here for a minute.” One said and they gestured to where they’d been standing.
Jaden followed them and they stepped into the hallway. One of the guys stood to block the hall and Jaden and the other took a couple steps in to get away from the party.
“You leaving?”
“Yah, I was getting ready to check out some other houses.” Jaden tried to play it cool but felt very nervous. He could feel the larger boys breath on his face and could smell the sweet barley aftertaste from the beer.
“Don’t go so soon. We were hoping you’d stick around. You coming to rush night tonight?”
“I’m not sure.” Jaden kept playing it cool.
“You should. We need brothers like you here. We need some variety as you can tell. Are you smart?”
“I’m okay.”
“What about extra curriculars, you do those?”
“I play soccer. Not sure if I’m going to try out this year.”
“Hey Manny, we got a footballer over here.” The guy blocking the hall turned and smiled.
“Nice!” He smiled briefly and continued listening.
“Manny’s on the team. You should definitely try out.”
“Okay.” Jaden felt a little uncomfortable. This guy was close to him and had a foot or two on him as well. Jaden’s back was against the wall at this point and the guy in front of him took another small step closer.
“We really need guys like you to pledge. You’re perfect for some stuff we have planned.”
Manny turned around and they switched positions. Manny took up the space right in front of Jaden, just as close.
“Let’s be real for a second here. You’re not our typical recruit, you can see that right?” Jaden nodded. “You’re looking for something new and we can give that to you. But you gotta 1. Trust the process and 2. You gotta want it. Can you do that.” He leaned in even closer and Jaden almost felt like they might start making out right there. His dick stirred as Manny leaned in. He nodded and blushed.
“Yah, I can do that.”
“Let me ask you, man to man, are you a fag?” Manny said the slur so casually that Jaden almost didn’t notice. He froze for a second. “It’s okay if you are, we just need to know where you stand.”
Jaden didn’t know what to say. That word had always been said to him by people he hated, but Manny said it in a way that felt bad in a different way. “I’m not.. one of those.” Jaden said.
“Its okay man, really. I just had to test you a little.” He put a hand on the wall above Jaden’s shoulder. “You seem like you’ve messed around a little. Am i right?”
Jaden nodded, too flustered to speak.
“Yah. I had a feeling when you walked in. You look like you’ve sucked some dick behind a bathroom or something.”
“Ive never done that. I had a girlfriend back home.”
“You fuck her?”
“Of course.” Jaden’s voice wavered, he felt like he was lying even though he wasnt.”
“Interesting. Okay Jaden. If you want in, you’re in.”
“T-thank you.” Jaden stuttered.
“Come to rush night.”
“I will.”
