Dimensions

Your little corner of the universe

Chapter 1 by semitasian semitasian

You wake up in your apartment, groggy and tired from last night. Working the graveyard shift was as hard as ever, and you had to be sneaky with your breaks this time since your supervisor was extra-upset last night. You look around your empty room for your glasses and begin getting ready for the day.

As you brush your teeth, your mind drifts to the first time you remember having access to your pocket dimension.

As a kid, you thought pocket dimensions were the stuff of daydreams and fantasy. That all changed when you hit puberty. All of the sudden, you could wave your hand and magically open a dimensional gateway to another universe, one completely blank and devoid of nearly everything. The first time you decided to enter, you were greeted with an infinitely far plane, as far as the eye could see. Your brain started turning with happy thoughts of taking Xboxes and unhealthy food into the dimension to play with and eat without getting yelled at by your parents.

Fast-forward a few years, and now you're in your freshman year of college. You've discovered some very interesting and important rules about the pocket dimension.

1: The dimensional rift can be moved at your will. You can manipulate the invisible portal as much as you want.

2: The dimensional rift can be as large or as small as you want, but you have to maintain control of the rift.

3: Time moves in its own way in your dimension. It moves regularly while in it, but as soon as you exit it's like time hasn't moved at all in the real world.

4: Only you can enter and leave your pocket dimension.

5: Somehow, electricity works fine in your dimension. You're able to power objects in it without hassle.

Now, it's been a year since your freshman year of college. You've gone back to school and are excited for your third semester of university life. You've been using your pocket dimension for mundane tasks--cramming a little extra for homework, keeping some pencils to grab if you ever forget them, and other things like that, but you have to admit that you've turned your little corner of the universe into something spectacular.

After careful portal-ing, you've managed to move a few sheds, a few tons of concrete and many home items to your dimension. You've managed to keep your gift hidden and use it well enough, but this is your third semester of college. A little voice in the back of your mind is telling you you haven't used it to its full potential yet...
