Adam's Gift
Chapter 1
by madcap902
The day started out like any other. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and Adam's Mom was yelling at him to get up from downstairs. Adam rolled over, and as he lay there, trying to **** himself to get up, he looked around his mess of a room, piles of clutter catching his eyes here and there. And just as he was about to fall back to sleep, a shrill voice rang out, "Get out of bed, or you'll be late for school."
"OK MOM!" Adam yelled back in a tone to let his mother know he was getting annoyed with her nagging. Yes, it was just another boring average day in the life of boring average 18 year old boy like Adam. Adam climbed out of bed, and headed to the bathroom to take a shower. Stumbling down the hall, Adam looked into his sister's room as he passed. His sister, Sarah who was 19, didn't live at home anymore, she now attended college at the local university. Of course she could still come home any time she wanted, since she was so close to home. Adam figured his parents left her room the way she left it, just to try and get her to come home. Adam finished taking his shower, threw on some jeans and a t-shirt, both of which were too large for his small frame, but he wore hoping to hide that fact. After getting dressed and brushing his teeth, Adam headed downstairs, hoping that his mother could just be quiet for once while he ate breakfast.
When Adam walked into the kitchen he found his Mom, Jennifer, working at the sink. His Dad, Steve, was no where to be found, so he guessed that he had already left for work. He sat down at the kitchen table, and began shoving down a bowl of cereal that his Mom had set out for him. His mother, continued to nag Adam about all the chores he hadn't done, and how much trouble he would be in if they weren't done by the time she got home that afternoon. Of course, Adam wasn't listening, he was already thinking about how he was going to survive the day. He continued to daydream until suddenly his mom called out, "Oh my gosh, look at the time, you better hurry up and leave or you'll be late."
Adam shoved himself away from the table, scooped up his bag pack and headed out the door. As he headed toward school he allowed himself to walk at a slow pace, that is until he looked down at his watch and realized how late he truely was. When he looked up he saw that he was near the shortcut he sometimes took when he was late for school.

Adam was a normal teen. Well, at least he was, that is until he got his very own Super Power.
