“Where is she?” Tonya looked around, setting her coffee on the kitchen counter.

“Just freshening up,” Tom said, gesturing vaguely toward the bathroom. “We were outside for a while, she got a bit warm.”

Tonya nodded, completely oblivious to what had actually transpired. “That’s my girl. Always worried about how she looks.” She glanced around at his photography equipment. “These pictures better be good—she’s been talking about this session for weeks.”

The bathroom door opened and Sarah emerged, looking remarkably composed considering what had just happened. Her hair was smoothed, her dress straightened, though Tom could still see the slight flush in her cheeks.

“Hi Mom!” Sarah said brightly, moving to hug Tonya. “Uncle Tom got some amazing shots!”
