it's sam!

frowning Clover put her book down and walked barefoot down the hall to the front door and opened it.

Clover gaped a second then squealed and dove into the offered hug.

Sam's skin was so soft and smooth. Clover nestled her face closer to Sam's and inhaled the sweet spicy scent of Sam's red hair.

"hey Sam!" Clover grinned broadly.

"what are you doing here? like I'm glad to see you but its late."

Sam pulled back and smiled as she looked her friend in the eyes.

"Alex is worried about you. she said that you looked like you had been crying earlier."

Clover scowled but before she could reply Sam interrupted.

"look I'M worried about you, Clover. you've been moping at home for WEEKS. you aren't chasing boys or shopping or acting like yourself at ALL."

Sam gently caressed Clover's cheek.

Clover's lip trembled and she let out a sob.

Sam was concerned. "Clover! whats wrong?!

Clover began to cry harder unable to speak.

"aww!" Sam drew Clover into a tight hug.

"tell me whats wrong." Clover cried into Sam's shoulder for a few minutes as Sam lovingly stroked Clover's back.

Clover was frustrated. she didn't KNOW what was-

blue eyes met green as understanding came at last to Clover.

"Sam, I keep thinking about you all the time." Clover confessed.

Clover explained all the weird contradictory feelings she had about Sam and how she didn't understand.

Sam just listened intently, determined to help her friend.

"I think I- I think I understand now." Clover said huskily.

"I think I'm-" Clover gazed into Sam's big green eyes afraid to speak.

Sam's long soft fingers tightened on Clover's shoulder.

"it's ok Clover. tell me what's wrong so I can help you."

Clover took a deep breath.

"Samantha, I have feelings for you. I think I might be a lesbian."

it was as if a weight had lifted from Clover as she said the words but the look on Sam's face sent a chill through Clover's body.

"c'mon Clover cut it out. I want to help you."

but even as she spoke Sam saw the hurt in Clover's eyes.

oh god.

"Clover..." Sam gazed uncertainly at her friend a moment then turned to leave.

"Sam!" Clover pleaded grabbing Sam by the hand.

"look I'm sorry Clover." Sam hurried to her car and drove away.

Clover silently closed the door and walked back up to her room feeling more lost than ever.
