first and second by a hair

I smiled as i crossed the finish line. my first race today was not all that difficult and I only had to go about half my full speed to win it. i turn to look at my opponents and see that they were nowhere near me.

"good job," said the boss to me. he then took my reigns and led me back to my pen. "you have an hour before your next race and this one will be a lot harder."

I just sat down in my pen while getting ready for the race. I had to put on a good show if I wanted him to reward me again. I have a pretty good mental map of the hotel in my head and three different plans on how I will get out of town afterwards.

when the hour was up I was led back onto the track and I looked at my competition. it was not hard to notice the two former kunoichi. they had more muscle tome than the other girls and walked with more confidence. of course one look in their eyes made me feel sorry for them. their was no fight in the eyes as they were lead to the track. I don't know how long they have been captured but it was clear they had broken long ago.

they were placed in the stalls on either side of me as we waited for the starting signal. once it went off we were all out of the stalls at top speed. the three of us easily left the others in our dust but we kept it pretty close. we kept trading places between first and third. we put all we had once we saw the finish line.

we all leaned forward to cross the line first but one girl was a little taller then me and manage to get her nose to cross less than a second before I did. I let out a huff of annoyance as I looked at her give me a smug grin when it was announced that she won.

"not bad," said the boss. "next time you will beat her." he then led me back to my pen.
