Your roommate, Steven

As you read through the strange book your roommate Steve emerges from his room and stumbles for the coffee pot. He grunts something that might be a question in your direction.

"Oh, this?" you say holding up the watch "It's just some dumb novelty someone sent us. I mean look at this thing can you believe idiots really think you can get hypnotised just swinging a watch back and forth, back and forth...."

As you let the watch swing free and you notice Steve is staring straight ahead, his face suddenly blank.

"Steve?" you say "Steven? Hey, buddy, can you hear me?"

"Yes" Steven answers his voice hollow

"Shit, come on Steve, quit messing around," you say confused "you aren't really hypnotised, are you?"

"I am," he says as if confirming that water is wet "I am currently in a deep hypnotic trance rendering my mind receptive to any and all commands."

You stare at him still not believing it. Still, he doesn't sound like he's joking and it's not like Steve to pass up the opportunity to call you a dick. You decide to test him.

"Okay if you are really hypnotised stand on one leg" you order and he obeys without complaining.

"Huh, okay but I'm still not convinced," you say "Quack like a duck, hope up and down, tell me about when you lost your virginity."

"Quack quack quack." he says hoping on the spot "I got wasted on my nineteenth birthday and paid Jenny Fowler fifty bucks to let me do her.
