Who was on the other side of the door?
Your high school Math teacher
Jake opens the door and freezes. In front of him is someone who he never wanted to see again. Mrs. Higgins, his high school math teacher.
"Mrs. Higgins?" Jake asked, scared to know the answer.
The woman in front of him grew bright red. "How did you know? Wait, is that Jake?" She quickly came inside and closed the door behind her. "This must be some sort of mistake. Why would you hire someone you know?" she asked.
"I didn't! I was just assigned someone who didn't have a date." Jake said. Although as soon as the words left his mouth, he realized how rude they sounded. Mrs. Higgins was not much of a looker. In fact, Jake was surprised that she would even be able to get a job like this.
"Look, Mrs. Higgins, I am sorry for the confusion. Can we please just forget about all this?" Jake pleaded.
"Yes. That would be for the best." Mrs. Higgins agreed.
"Great, if you could just call up the agency and cancel so that I could get my money back, then we can both get on with our night." Jake said.
Mrs. Higgins turned away from the door and looked back at Jake puzzled. "I will do no such thing. You paid for my time, and now you are telling me to leave. I have done all that you asked me to do. I have earned that money."
"Please! I only had enough money for tonight. I can't continue on like this. There must be another way." Jake pleads
Is there another way?
The Price is Right
