Chapter 4 by Veiled Veiled

The weekend arrives

Your boss visits

It was finally the evening that your boss Shaun was coming by your place for dinner, and you were quite anxious about it. Presently you were more or less patrolling the house and tidying things up. Making sure everything looked as tidy and presentable as possible. Even though you were in your own home, you’d gone out of your way to dress nicely, wearing khakis and a buttoned shirt. You’d told Jill to do the same, and so she’d come downstairs wearing a tight blue dress and vibrant red lipstick. She always looked gorgeous, but the way the dress hugged her hips and chest meant she looked especially appealing tonight. That suited you just fine, every little thing that might help charm Shaun and preserve your employment seemed like fair game to you. “What can I help with?” Jill asked as you paced around the house. “Why don’t you listen for the door? Im going to set the table and keep an eye on the food.” You told her, wanting everything immaculate. She quickly nodded and went to sit near the door, patiently waiting.

It was only a few more minutes before Shaun pulled up outside. For Jill, who was looking out the window, his arrival was given away by the fact that his car was much nicer than yours or anyone else’s in the neighborhood. The knock on the door came moments later, and she stepped forward to answer it. She saw your tall and stoic boss standing in the doorway looking down at her. “Hi, you must be Jill, right?” He asked, recognizing her from the photo on your desk. “Yes! Hi Shaun! Or do you prefer Mr. Evans? Please, come in, come in.” She said, stepping out of the way and letting him come inside. “Shaun is fine.” He told her, even though he’d always insisted on the more formal title with you. “So where is Andy? He is joining us tonight, isn’t he?” Shaun asked, making the rare joke. Jill laughed much harder than the joke deserved. “Oh, yes- as a matter of fact, he is. He’s just wrapping things up in the kitchen. Right this way.” She said, leading him towards that part of the house. Shaun’s eyes ran down her figure as she walked ahead of him in her tight dress, and he decided he’d made the right decision in coming here tonight.

Jill entered the kitchen and you looked up as Shaun followed her inside. “Hey! So glad you could make it. Thanks for coming out.” You told him, thanking him for even showing up. “Of course. You have a lovely home, and the food smells very good.” He said, his tone even and a bit flat despite his praise. “I’m glad you think so! This should all be done in just a few minutes so why don’t I open a bottle of wine for us and we can just hang out and chat in the meantime?” You suggested. Shaun nodded. “Sure, go right ahead.” He said, and you pulled out a few glasses while Jill hunted for the bottle opener. You handed Shaun his glass, but he wasn’t looking at you. You followed his gaze and saw him admiring the view of your fiancé bent towards a cabinet, rifling around for the bottle opener. By the time you’d turned back around, he’d stopped looking at her. “Found it!” She called out and soon the glasses were being filled.

Shaun tasted the wine and nodded. “Not bad. Not bad at all. But uh, listen- if you need a little more time with the food, I was just thinking… since it’s my first time here, maybe Jill should give me a quick little tour while you get things ready?” He suggested, looking between the two of you. Jill smiled and quickly nodded. “Sure! Or at least, I don’t see why not…” Jill said, agreeing on instinct before turning towards you and giving you an expectant look. It was a perfectly reasonable suggestion, but it would only be a short time until the food was ready to be served, and furthermore you couldn’t help but think back to the way Shaun had been admiring Jill’s body when he’d had the chance. As your fiancé and boss waited for your answer, you got the sense Shaun was quite eager for a moment alone with her.
