You were disowned

As you unfolded the letter, your eyes scanned the words, but it took a few moments for the meaning to fully sink in. The heading—bold and unmistakable—stood out: Legal Notice of Disownment. Your breath caught in your throat as you read on, the cold, impersonal language cutting deeper with every word.

The letter stated that your mother had officially disowned you. There was no room for misinterpretation, no hope for reconciliation. It was legally binding, final. A severance not just emotional, but permanent, leaving you no avenue to repair or restore the relationship.

Your hands trembled as you reached the end of the letter, the world around you shrinking to the enormity of the words on that paper. It felt surreal, as if you were reading about someone else’s life. But it was your life. Your mother had abandoned you—her son—and there was no going back.

The letter slipped from your grasp, falling onto the bed. You stared blankly ahead, the weight of the situation pressing down on you like a heavy blanket, suffocating in its intensity.
