Chapter 404

The Other Guy
What's next?
You think it would be best to just go to your room
It's totally not that you don't want Stephanie to see you standing around outside the bath. Climbing the steps and entering your room entirely alone is a bit surreal. It's weird but you'd not go upstairs on your very often and you found yourself expecting someone to be at your side when reach each level.
Closing your door behind you and looking around the dark room you feel a pang. An emptiness to the room that should be filled when Edin returns this weekend. You strip out of your clothes and sit on his bed. It was faint but you could still smell him. That faint sea-salt not from the ocean out the window but from him, a part of his being like that burnt smell with Vatarie.
Going to your bed you lay down pondering your temporary loneliness.
You jump at the sound of a knock on your door. Looking out the window you see the night sky above so you must have fallen asleep. Getting off the bed and pulling on some clothes you open the door and see Delilah standing outside. There is no one else, not even a head peaking out from the stairwell or Vatarie room. "Hey." Delilah said walking into the room as you step out of their way.
"Hey." You said back as their clothes started pulling off them.
When they were naked they stretched standing on their toes and arching their back, pushing their ass out. Letting out a sultry moan they shrunk back to their feet. "I think we should exercise some more." A hand reached down to grab at their ass, squeezing a cheek and exposing their hole that winked at you. "Our ass isn't very big." Eve commented sagely. "What do you think Christopher, could our ass be bigger?" Delilah asked looking over their shoulder at you.
As much as you would have loved to engage in this there is something running around your head that isn't making that possible. It's a simple sentence said not too long ago. 'Forgiveness goes a long way'.
You'd thought you had forgiven them, it wasn't their fault you cut your hand off. But, yes it was, if Eve had just kept her cool and left the room instead of going nuclear you'd still have a hand. It wasn't fair, you'd seen a fraction of what had been done to her, PTSD is probably the optimal outcome. It's not her fault she'd been triggered and lost control.
"Can we talk?" You ask, your left hand reaching up and scratching the stump of your right.
"Sure?" Delilah said, unsure.
"It's about," you lifted your stump, "this."
Their face grew uncomfortable. "What did you want to talk about?" Eve asked. "I thought we'd already exhausted that subject."
You felt a bit of anger at her attempt to dismiss you. "No I pushed it down and ignored how I felt because I knew it wasn't either of your fault and didn't want to blame you for this."
"But?" Delilah asked.
"But," you sighed, "I think I do. I know I shouldn't, you were going through something worse than I could imagine and it's not even about losing the hand. I'll grow this back in a bit no issue."
"Then why are angry with us?" Eve asked, she didn't sound congenial to this.
"Because you killed me." It was the second time you'd said it and the shiver that climbed down you spine as you did made you shift. "You destroyed my spine at the base of my skull. I felt what it was like to not feel my body again, not hear my heart beat. How things just kinda faded to black." The memory of the moment flashed in your mind. "How could you kill me?" You felt your eyes burning and blinked as tears suggested their presence.
"We didn't kill you, we didn't have any control over ourselves. You," Eve start but was cut off. "We didn't kill you." Delilah sounded horrified, "You, you just passed out, if you died you wouldn't here now, you didn't die we just fought and you saved us from hurting anyone and brought us back." She rushed out. "We love you for everything you've done for us Christopher but we did not kill you." Eve clarified. "We wouldn't kill someone we love." You saw a wetness in their eyes that they blinked away.
The two of you stared at each other for a long moment of silence. As they tried to hold back tears their nakedness became less sexual and more ****. They made no move to cover up but the posture changed, not flaunting curves and expose but shrinking into themselves.
But they'd killed you. Even if they didn't accept they'd done it had happened. The control your brain had over your heart had been severed and you lost consciousness, waking up inside their mind didn't mean you'd lived. Bringing that poker out of Eve's mind even suggested you might not be the original you, maybe there was a dead Christopher floating in the ocean and you're just the mental image they'd used to get back to themselves. Wait, what the poker have to do with anything you hadn't brought it out of her mind?
"Hey when we woke up on the beach did you see a poker in my hand?" You cannot keep mentally bringing that up for no reason. Why would you continue to misremember the same thing over and over.
"Poker?" Delilah asked. "Yes, it was ... no, it ..." Eve said then reached up to rub their head. "I don't remember a poker." Delilah said. "No, it was in his hand on the beach, why am do remember it differently?"
You looked down at your chest and saw a soft glowing. Pulling your mothers ring out into the open you see thirteen dots around it glowing brightly. You blink and the ring is back to normal. "Huh?"
Delilah sniffed and you looked over to see them wiping their eyes. "We didn't kill you." Delilah said then paused and looked at you. "Weren't we talking about something else?"
"No, I'm pretty sure we were talking about how you killed me, if you want to accept it not." You were a little bugged that they'd just deny it like that.
"If we killed you we'd be no better than Phile." Eve said, "We didn't, kill ... are you sure we weren't talking about something else?"
"Look if you don't want to talk then just listen." You said in frustration. "I keep feeling that moment, the heat and cold on my spine then just not feeling any of it. I just, can't get it out of my head and I could have hurt someone. Just like you did to me, hey what are you doing?" You ask as Delilah grabbed your mothers ring and examined it closely.
"It didn't have all thirteen dots last time." Eve said.
"Who care about my mothers ring, I'm try to, hey get off." You were again interrupted as they tried to wrestle it off from your neck. Victorious Eve studied the ring closely turning it around in her hand. "Ok you know what, enough, we'll talk later." You said throwing your hands up in annoyance. You lay down on your bed not feeling like this had resolved much of anything. Last time you take advice Stephanie.
"Where exactly did you mother get this ring?" Eve asked. You ignored her. "Christopher."
"I don't know, she'd given it to my dad to give to me, why don't you go looking for a mysterious note she's left for you to vaguely explain fucking nothing and get you killed by someone you love." You grumbled, Eve was clearly just going to keep avoiding so why bother trying at this point.
"Where'd it go?" She asked suddenly.
You reached into your shirt and hooked your finger around the string Edin had given you. "Here." You said waving the string and rolling over to face away from them.
"Christopher this could-" Eve started.
"I don't care. Delilah, Eve, Thetia whoever you are at the moment, I'm trying to talk to you about what happened and how it's affecting me and you just want to ask about my mothers ring out of no where."
"Fine then," Eve grumbled. The two of you sulked quietly for a moment before Delilah asked. "So, is sex off the table?"
You rolled over to look at them, their nakedness was moving toward the make up sexy variety. "Come to bed." You said climbing under the covers and lifting them up for her. Delilah let out a little yippee and ran over jumping under the covers and trying to kiss you. "In the morning." You said pulling your face away from them.
Delilah pouted but didn't try anything, they rolled over and pushed their ass against you. They found you left hand and made sure it was resting on their boob as you both drifted off.
Morning sex and trauma dumping?

The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
