You remember your encounter with Megan.

You remember you promised to talk to Taylor about Megan.

Taylor soon leaves the bathroom and crawls on the bed back next to you.

“John…” Taylor says. She’s now resting her head on your shoulder and drawing circles on your chest with her finger. “Remember I said I wanted to talk to you?”

“So ‘talk’ is not the new codeword for ‘sex’? Gotcha.” You nod.

She shakes her head, but you can tell she’s amused, at least.

“I wanted to talk to you about Megan.”

“Oh?” Well, there’s the topic you wanted.

“She was acting strange today, so I asked her what was wrong. She told me to stop pretending like I care and wouldn’t talk to me.” She says, and it’s kind of upsetting to see Taylor actually looking sad. “I don’t know what she meant by that. She’s one of the few people I actually care about.”

You sigh. This might get ugly, but the reassurance of the absolute power behind you gives you confidence to speak your mind.

“Do you really?”

Taylor lifts her head from your shoulder and glares at you. “What was that?”

You haven’t seen that icy glare in a while. A look like that used to be enough to make you submit, but you know this girl better now than you ever did. You push through.

“I spoke to Megan yesterday,” You tell her. Technically, you never promised to keep quiet about that conversation. Besides, it’s for the greater good. “That’s why I didn’t go to dinner with you.”

Taylor's eyes widen.

“What… What did you…? What did she…?” She hesitates, not knowing what to ask first.

“First, she warned me about you. Saying that you tend to get rid of people you get bored of or that are no longer useful to you.”

“What!?” You can see shock, anger and fear, all mixed into one expression on Taylor's face. “Why would she say that!?”

“Because she thinks you got bored of her and left her alone.” You drop the bomb.

“…” Taylor gasps. “I… I didn’t!” She says. “Why do you think I still hang out with her!? Why do you think she’s still on the team!? Heather wanted to get rid of her, but I told her not to!”

“Heather?” You ask curiously.

“Ms. Samson…” She clarifies. Right, the girls treat their coach like one of them and call her by name when not in school.

“Well, Megan doesn’t see it like that.” You tell her. “When was the last time you two hung out as friends? Outside of school? Besides, she knows she’s a terrible cheerleader and all she wants is to get better so she can stand alongside you. You told me you would like to believe you two are friends. Megan doesn’t hate you, but she believes you’re not friends anymore, because YOU don’t want to be.”

“…” Taylor is silent for a while. She’s looking down at the bed, thinking, remembering.

“Oh my god…” She finally says. “I was so worried about my status that I… didn’t notice…”

“What will you do now, then?”

“I… I’m sorry John. I need to fix this NOW. I’ll come back, I promise. But I need to talk to Megan right now.” She says. “You can stay here. Eat what you want, watch TV, anything.”

Taylor gets up from the bed and quickly gets dressed.

She kisses you before leaving. “Thank you for telling me this. I’ll be back soon.”

You watch her leave as you sit naked in her bed. It’s a bit awkward, but you understand the situation. You hope they’re able to make up.

You wish for two things.

1. You remove Megan’s inability to talk about what happened on the clubroom.

2. You wish that Taylor doesn’t mind sharing you with Megan. This is to prevent her from getting mad if Megan tells her about what you did with her.

The fatigue from the day, your basketball training and sex with Taylor catches up to you.

You fall fast asleep on Taylor's bed
