The night after dinner

You contemplate your situation in your room

After the dinner with the Olympian family, Nereus made his way back to his room, his mind heavy with thoughts of the new rule imposed upon him by Zeus. The curse that Zeus had put on him felt like a **** sentence. He couldn't imagine living a life without the ability to breed any woman he desired, it was a part of his very being.

He walked over to his bed and sat down, his head in his hands as he tried to come to terms with his new reality. He thought about the conversations he had with his father and the other gods, and how they had all agreed that his actions were a danger to the family. He knew they were right, but it still didn't make it any easier to accept. He couldn’t change his own nature.

As he sat there, he couldn't help but think about Aphrodite and the way she had looked at him during dinner. He knew she was attracted to him, and the thought of being with her had been the only thing that had kept him from feeling completely hopeless. He knew that if he found the right woman, mortal or god, and swore loyalty to her in marriage, he would be released from the curse.

The idea of finding one woman to spend the rest of his life with seemed daunting. He had bedded countless women and couldn't imagine being tied down to just one. But as he thought about it more, he found a flaw in Zeus rule. While he would be bound to whoever he chose to marry, Zeus allowed him to marry mortal women. Mortal being the focus here. He just had to marry some old widow, outlive her and the curse would be gone… in theory.

He stood up from his bed, his mind made up. He would find a way to break the curse, no matter what it took. He would not let Zeus dictate his life and his love.

A not so unexpected visitor
