You awaken

Sometime latter, you open your eyes. The sky above is still pitch black. You consider just lying in that alley forever, but you knew that would only put you in greater danger. You muster what strength you have left in an attempt to move your sore and battered limbs. All you can manage initially is to bring your legs to your torso, and curl up in a ball. You slowly continue to try and stand, managing to get yourself on your knees, and finally you shakily stand on your own two feet. Using the wall walls of the alley as a crutch, you slowly but surely made your way out of the alley and onto the side walk.

You had no idea what time it was, but it must have been late, because the entire street was empty. You slowly made you way to Doe’s apartment, relying heavily on railings and walls. As you walked the feeling that people could see you now filled you with humiliation. So this is what they meant by “walk of shame?” As you struggle along a group of young men pull up beside you in a car. What you first thought might be hope quickly turns out to be false as the young men begin catcalling you.

Is this what every woman feels? This constant terror? This endless fear? How can women go about their lives knowing that they are completely helpless? That any man could **** themselves upon her and she could do nothing to stop it? And why is it getting you so aroused?

The cat-callers eventually move on, and with time and effort, you make your way into the apartment building, and find yourself outside Doe’s front door.
