Chapter 232 by bobbobbobthethir bobbobbobthethir

How do you answer?

You’re sharing a room. That would be awkward

“I wish I could, but I’m sharing a room with one of my teammates,” you say. “Something tells me that’s not what you’re looking for.”

“Oh. That could be slightly awkward,” Jeanne says, looking off to the side. “Maybe for the best if I just go home?”

“Yeah…” you say.

Truth be told, you’re ever so slightly concerned about Jeanne’s behavior. It’s clear now that the “reporting” she’s doing was just a flimsy excuse. She drove all this way to see you, and while the sentiment would be nice if the two of you were dating… you’re not a couple. The more you think about it, the more you think that you shouldn’t encourage this behavior. It’s getting borderline obsessive. Who knows what else she might do? Far better to let her down here, rather than encourage these kinds of antics.

“It really is a shame,” Jeanne says, making puppy-dog eyes at you. “You sure there isn’t some way to make this work?”

“I’m sorry,” you say. “I made plans to hang out with the team after dinner. We wouldn’t get to spend much quality time together with everyone around, anyways.”

You watch as Jeanne slowly nods, a disappointed look crossing her face. She sighs and says: “I shouldn’t have come all the way out here today.”

“Maybe not. A lesson learned,” you say, and to your relief, she nods.

“I’ll just cover your home games from now on,” she says. “That way, it’ll be easier for us to see each other, right?”

You slowly nod in response.

“I’ll see you next week then,” you say. “I’d best go see my team now.”

Though you had made up your ‘plans’ with the team, it suddenly occurs to you that the night is far from over. Maybe there is some fun to be had with your teammates to end the night.
