Is the elf upset with you?
You're not sure if she is mad, or disappointed
"Hello students." Sarean says as her child-like form emerges from the desk once everyone is seated. "Today will be a bit different, rather than strictly theory we will be discussing how one could apply it." She jumps from the desk and starts marching back and forth. "Now so far we gone over the basics of how magic is contextualized and conceptualized. Christopher what do I mean by that?" She snapped at you with arm pointed.
"How magic has evolved over time from the belief that there is a need to manually direct it, to it becoming an imposing of your will upon reality." You answered quickly the notes you'd made over the last few lessons neatly spelling this out for you.
"Is that context or concept?"
"Both. The context of the historical setting is what determined the concept of magic at the time."
"Very good." Sarean answered narrowing her eyes slightly. "Here is what was one an old magical circle," from her desk a flat circle emerged with symbols and letting etched in it, "do you know what it does, Christopher?" She snapped at you again.
You glanced at your notes but couldn't see any of the symbols on the circle. "No." You answered.
Sarean made a disappointed noise. "Edin would you care to inform him."
"Nothing. The symbols are gibberish." Edin answered.
"Very clever miss. This is the correct assembling of symbols to focus," she sped past her compliment to not make the miss obvious but Edin looked a little more radiate at the feminine identifier, "the users magic into an effect. In this case." The symbols on the circle lit up and suddenly a lighten bolt shot out of it aimed at your head. You hadn't had time to identify this before it hit you, but the last of burning in your face or eyes and deafness gave you an correction to a previous question, Sarean was mad at you. "An illusion. Now all of you look to your desks."
Beside your notebook a circle formed on the desk. It was about the size of your palm without any symbols on it.
"I want you to create a circle that does something, anything at all so long as the circle works, by the end of the lesson. Whoever is able to create the most impressive display will receive a reward." Sarean looked pointedly at you. Giving you a way to earn forgiveness you figured, though you wish she could have picked an easier method.
You flipped through your notes until you the details you'd written down about symbols. The circle was a lot smaller than any you'd seen before but you could try. Taking the quill for your notebook you start making tiny symbols around the perimeter. It should create a pretty basic floating flame, not exactly impressive but if it works you think you can figure out a way to alter the symbols to get a better effect.
Around you the sound of scratching quills echoes. Sarean jumps back onto her desk and sinks into it. Afterwards you can occasionally hear soft comments and advice from around the room. Even Ana has a little mouth form beside her circle with some pointers. None for you though. Which could mean she wants you to earn the reward of her forgiveness or you're on the right track and don't need the help.
After about ten minutes you have finished your circle and put your quill down. Cross-checking each and every symbol you'd written with your notes you've got nothing else to do but cross your fingers and hope it'll work. You can't actually check it, any magic you put into the symbols to check would, honestly you have no idea, could make no difference, could short circuit it, could over-amp it and turn a flame into a pillar.
Sitting back in your desk you look around at the others. There is a great deal of variance in the circles you can see, Ana's looks largely the same as you though her symbols are a little smaller, Vatarie's looks completely different, you don't even recognise some of her symbols, Asune's is totally blank she doesn't even appear to have pick up her quill.
You were a little surprised by that, sure she isn't competitive where pain isn't an expected outcome but you wouldn't have thought she'd totally ignore the chance at a reward. You settle back into your chair a focus on your circle again. Deciding to risk the chance of testing it you let a tiny fraction of magic slip into the symbols.
A tiny golden flame flickers to life for a moment the dies out.
It worked? Seriously, it actually worked. You put a bit of magic into the circle and the flame flicked on once again. Dying out a little later. You weren't sure how you were feeling about this. An obsolete ancestor to enchanting is something you can do while the modern equivalent requires an incredibly rare metal.
You looked at the desk wondering if you were being taught a private lesson here. Don't lose the thing that is keeping you in the modern era. Or maybe think of alternatives cause you ain't getting the sword back.
While hoping for that last one to not be the lesson you wait until Sarean calls time.
"Alright class." Sarean reforms on her desk, this time in her short-stack form. "Let's see what you have done." She walks over to Ana. "If you would your highness." Ana nods and from her circle a small blue light appears but fade quickly. "Very good, Lady Vatarie." Vatarie does her best but nothing happens. She looks frustrated but doesn't get violent just sitting back in her chair. "Lady Asune why haven't you tried."
"Because it will not work." Asune answers flatly. Sarean's cheeks turn in a slight smile as she moves on.
Around the room she move each student getting some level of success. By the time she reaches Edin she skips him and moves to you. "Christopher."
You make the little flame, you aren't sure if it's the most impressive. There had been a few brighter lights and the odd flame, but yours lasted a bit longer, though had a more unnaturally golden glow. Sarean hums vaguely as the light flickers out.
"Edin your turn." Behind you there was a little buzzing and you look behind you to see a little model of yourself do some poses. "Very good." She walked over to Asune. "Lady Asune, care to explain why none of their circles worked."
Everyone let out a somewhat stunned noise of surprise and looked at Asune who calmly answered, "Because we know the symbols don't work. That was just their magic doing what they wanted it to do."
Sarean nodded and clapped her hands. From everyone's circles the same image appeared then changed into the same little model of Sarean. "Context and concept. You all know that symbols are obsolete, you do not believe they can work thus they don't. But you want them to work so your magic makes them work. Now as to the winner." She walked over to her desk and jumped up, her chest jiggling a little excessively as she does so. "I think I'll hang onto it for now. Maybe next lesson we'll see if it can be won."
That marked the end of the class, with everyone but Asune feeling a bit sheepish. While the class emptied you hung back to speak to Sarean just to make sure things the sword was still loanable. "Sarean?" You ask the desk.
"Yes Christopher?" The short-stack emerged, with legs spread to either side of you showing off a very carefully formed pussy. "Something you want, or want to give me?"
You stared for a few seconds longer then remembered what you were here for. "Just want to say sorry for, losing the sword."
"Just want to say sorry?" Sarean echoed, leaning back a little while pushing her chest out. "Not wanting to make up for it?"
"I-uh." You didn't have an easy response to give to that question. "Ok."
"Good boy." She grabbed at your pants and felt you through them. She quickly got you fully hard and started undoing your pants only to stop just before freeing you. "Now," she dragged her hand up your body, "if you ever want to keep going you'll not let anyone else steal it."
"Steal?" As you ask she smirks and sinks into the desk leaving you alone in the room. "What do you mean steal?" You ask it even though you know you aren't getting an answer. Though the answer is obvious if you think about how last night had gone. Green stole the sword so Mary had an excuse to spend more time with you, which was in line with Mary confessing her mum pushing her to really make sure you and her get married.
You leave the room not sure if you should be angry at Green, Mary or both. Obviously not great that they stole from you, but to be fair it apparently wasn't difficult and taught you a lesson about keeping an eye on the sword. But well it's not like last night didn't go well, for you anyway, Vatarie might not entirely agree even if she did beat Mary.
Finding the others for lunch and magical practice as Stephanie's class began Green arrived with a carriage. She had not a hint of guilt as you joined her in the carriage holding the sword a little tighter than usual.
