Chapter 70 by JoeSte91 JoeSte91

Does anyone see Zack leave Ashley's room?

Yes

"The bacon's burning," Heather said, walking into the living area, dressed in a casual shirt and leggings, shoes in hand.

"Aw, shit." Gavin rushed off to the kitchen to turn off the heat.

"Are you going somewhere?" Kurt asked.

"Doctor's appointment, remember?" she said, slipping the shoes onto her feet. "Hopefully won't be too long but you know what the waiting room's like."

She waved goodbye as she left the cabin. Behind her Chloe wandered in from the hall, dressed in a loose fitting tee-shirt and soccer shorts. At the same time, Gavin returned, chewing on a blackened rasher.

"s'not too bad," he said. "So, any ideas?"

"Ideas for what?" Chloe asked.

"We've decided to play a game to lighten the mood around here," Brandon said. "But we don't know what to play."

Chole counted the group that remained. There was Kurt, Brandon, Gavin, Lisa and herself. Chloe frowned.

"I was going to suggest soccer, but we're one short of being able to play three aside."

"You're not counting Zack," Lisa corrected her. "So we do have enough."

Unfortunately, the mention of Zack prompted Brandon to look down the hall, just in time to see Zack leaving his and Ashley's room. Brandon shot up on to his feet.

"Hey, what were you doing in Ashley's room?"

"Huh?" Zack was caught off guard. His mind scrambled to form some sort of reasoning. "Well, I was...just...um..."

"I thought you said you were going to the bathroom? What were you really doing?" Brandon demanded, his fists clenched.

"Yeah, what were you doing with Ashley?" Chloe said. Zack could see her standing behind Brandon, smirking and gloating that Zack's time had come.

He decided that he couldn't just let her have this. So he became determined to convince Brandon of his innocence.

"We were just talking," Zack lied quickly. Though it wasn't a complete lie; they had talked.

"What did you need to talk to her about that was so urgent?" Brandon seemed to loom over Zack as he pressed him for answers. "What do you know?"

"Nothing, really," Zack said, raising his hands. "She was pretty pissed about the prank. I just wanted to let her know that it was ok. It was stupid and dangerous but there was no harm done, so we should all try to move forward."

Brandon stared at Zack, his eyes judging his friend, and then a second later his face softened. He rested a hand on Zack's shoulder as he hung his head.

"You're right. Thank you for talking to her. It probably meant something coming from you because you were the one that was lost." Brandon exhaled with relief as he turned back towards the couches. "Man, I really don't know what's gotten into her lately."

The group moved back to the living area. Chloe fell back a few steps, coming in line with Zack.

"You're getting pretty good at lying," she chastised him.

"You mean the way you lied about the text?" Zack retorted. "Did Heather even tell you I was out looking for you?"

"No, but I guessed as much after I got that text," Chloe said. "No doubt hoping to convince me of your honour and virtue."

"I didn't mean for this to happen. Neither of us did."

"You didn't mean to fuck her in the forest when you were meant to be here in the cabin with me?" Chloe laughed bitterly. "Well, while you were ignorantly sticking your dick in that cheating slut, Kurt was up here, taking care of business like you should have been."

"Kurt?" Zack couldn't contain his surprise and said the name a little louder than intended.

Kurt cocked his head at the mention of his name. Again, Zack scrambled to cover his tracks.

"Er...so...what's the plan?"

Kurt shrugged. "Gavin wants to play a game. Chloe suggested soccer. Which I'm all for. We can play shirts and skins. I'll be shirts, Chloe you be skins."

"Isn't she on the soccer team?" Lisa asked. "Won't any team that Chloe's on have an inherent advantage?"

"Nah, most of us here play some kind of sport," Brandon said. "Except for Gavin."

"I can run and kick a ball," Gavin interjected.

"Great, so shirts and skins, and why not boys vs girls," Kurt continued. "Lisa, Chloe, take off your tops and we'll get started."

"We'd be outnumbered," Chloe pointed out.

Kurt simply smirked. "Is that a problem for you?"

Zack watched Kurt and Chloe flirting. There was clearly chemistry between them. She hadn't been lying. She really had fucked him.

"I dunno," Zack said. "I think I need to stay and have a talk with Chloe about some stuff."

"No, I'm good." she said, barely glancing at him.

"But-"

"I'd really rather play the game than talk," Chloe cut in. Zack sighed in resignation.

"There's still the matter of a ball," Lisa said. "As in, we don't have one."

"I saw a hut down by the lake," Gavin said. "Might be one in there."

"If we're gonna play by the lake, I'm gonna change into my swimsuit," Lisa said. "Just in case I get wet."

"Smart girl," Kurt said. "Getting wet is very likely when you play with me."

Lisa rolled her eyes and smiled. She asked Zack where the bathroom was, dragging her suitcase off in that direction to get changed.

"That is a good idea," Brandon said. "We should all get changed and meet down by the lake."

The group split off, heading off to their rooms, eager to do what they'd come on the trip for: have some fun.

What's next?
