I got out of my car and headed for the booth. I saw Tim and Gage both standing there. I don't know what I was expecting considering they were both collecting signatures to allow public nudity, but they were both fully clothed, and quite well dressed even. Nothing crazy but smart casual. I guess they wanted to project professionalism to get people on board with their cause.

They had some people here and there stopping and chatting, most very briefly though, without signing. Once Tim and Gage saw me their faces lit up.

"Hey Henry!" Tim exclaimed, "glad you could stop by! Here to sign the petition?"

I honestly hadn't even considered they would ask me. I was taken off guard.

"Uh, how does the campaign work?" I asked, trying to stall.

"Well, we have to get at least 5% equivalent to Brightwood registered voters, so about 14,000 signatures," Tim explained, "then the measure would go to public comment before the city council who would put it to a simple majority vote."

"How many signatures do you have?" I asked.

"Well, we aren't doing so hot right now. We have about 15 signatures here. There are lots of others out collecting singatures today, but I hear the best group has bout 50 right now."

"We only have a month from the time the petition is filed to get them, so 30 days from yesterday," Gage added, "Wanna sign?"

I guess it really did no harm. Not like I would have to get naked. I took the pen and signed the petition.

A group of guys walked up as I finished, and I excused myself to go do my shopping real quick. When I came back out they had seemed to get another dozen signatures from a rowdy group of frat boys who seemed to love the idea of naked women running around town, which was a bit delusional, but whatever helped their cause I guess.

I said bye and wished them the best, and decided to run the rest of my errands.
