Chapter 22 by FlatCap90210 FlatCap90210

What does Penny say?

Yes. Maybe the Pastor will have some advice.

"Y-yes, I... my name is Penny..." Taking Anandi's hand with her alabaster-smooth one, the angel let herself be pulled up, taking care to cover her nude form with her six wings. "A-and I thank thee for thine kindness. I shall partake in your feast."

"Wonderful! Follow me, friend Penny!" Waving his muscular arms around, Anandi strode off in the direction his... husband had come from. "Come, come! Nothing like a party to raise the spirits!"

"You'll have to excuse my wife." Anbu hung back a little and began to walk next to Penny. But her choice of words only served to confuse the angel further, a fact that wasn't lost on Anbu. With a warm laugh, she continued: "And myself, it seems. Let me explain: Before, we were husband and wife, and we are still - me the husband, she the wife. It is confusing for others, but only our bodies have changed. Our very being, what makes us us, has not. I am still Andu, and she is still Anandi. Why should we change how we refer to ourselves?"

"I... I see..." Penny found she could only accept what Anbu was saying. Was she - or should it be he? - not equally blessed with... "Uhm."

The blessings. Her blessings. Ellie's. They were obviously divine respectively infernal in nature, given by the Lord or Him Below. But Anbu and Anandi? They were obviously not blessed by the Almighty, so they had to be cursed by the Devil, correct? But... why were they so kind, then? Was this another situation like with Linda? Was Penny walking into another trap? They had said the cookout was organized by a pastor. Had that been another lie? When had Penny become so distrustful of other people? Oh, coming to Bay Cove had been a mistake after all... Why had she ran away from Ellie, her only ally in this-- but no, the succubus had... and still, Penny yearned for her friend's... her lover's embrace...

"Oh sweetheart..." The angel suddenly felt herself embraced by Anbu's lowest arms, the ones not carrying anything. "There's no need to cry... everything will be alright. We and the pastor will be there for you..."

Penny couldn't stop the tears as she clung to the six-armed woman, the feathers on her wings rustling with every sob. Oh, how she longed to hug Ellie instead and feel the succubus' wings wrap around her... the feel of her lover's gentle talons caressing the angel's skin... but Penny had followed the task the Lord had given her and Ellie had fallen to the Dark One. And even worse, the angelic woman might even have been wrong about that task... what if she was also wrong about Ellie having fallen?

"Shh, it's alright. Everything will be alright, sweetheart." Anandi had noticed what was going on and had returned - and was now joining the hug, her muscular arms wrapping around her husband and Penny. The strangeness surrounding Anandi's and Anbu's gender would have confused Penny at the best of times. These weren't the best of times. "Let it all out, it's alright."

With time, Penny's tears ceased flowing, little by little. Sniffling in the embrace of Anandi and Andu, the angelic woman felt her whirling thoughts begin to slow, and she began to wonder. These two people, these virtual strangers... How were they so nice, if they were really touched by the Devil? Would they then not try to tempt Penny in this most **** state she was in? But neither Anandi nor Anbu were touching her in any untoward places, yes, Anandi was not even growing hard in the slightest! Penny, until now so sure that the city was in the clutches of the devil, now became more and more sure that she had been gravely mistaken...

"I... I thank thee both..." The angelic woman finally mumbled into Anbu's neck, relaxing her arms to let the strange couple know that she would be fine - and still feeling a sting of disappointment as Anandi and Anbu let her go. "I shall... I will be... uhm, let us continue."

After making sure that Penny really was more or less alright, Anandi led the angel and Anbu further along the path. The rest of the way was spent in silence - silence, that is, from Penny and her new friends. The closer they got to where Penny assumed was the cookout, the clearer it became that there some major ruckus going on. Finally, after rounding a small copse of trees, Penny could see a group of people sitting on the ground or picnic tables, talking and eating and drinking. The most noise was coming from two guys occupying one table by themselves - with the help of literal mountains of beer cans. Both the men and the piles of cans were massive; one of them, his long blonde hair in a pony tail, was wearing a shirt with a lion's head printed on the front. The garment might as well have been painted on over his bulging, impossibly well-defined muscles that put even Anandi's to shame. Penny felt her face heat up as she realized that even the stranger's abs were distinctly visible as he kept chugging a beer.

His opponent was no less muscular, even if he was built more like a strongman, abs hidden by an impressive beer belly which in turn wasn't hidden by anything - all he was wearing were workout gloves without fingers and shorts held up by a thick leather belt. His dark read hair bristled as beer dripped out of his bushy beard from the beer he was chugging before crushing the can in one meaty fist and slamming it down into a pile of similarly destroyed cans with a mighty bellow:

"ANOTHER!"

That's some strange fellows. But where's the pastor?
