Chapter 19

Does Vel fall asleep?
Yes, and he has a familiar visitor
Vel found himself floating in the wasteland again. Looking around, he quickly spotted the familiar robed figure, though there seemed to be almost no smoke this time. The figure looked more solid somehow. More corporeal. “You look different.”

“Indeed, my liege, I am closer, and our connection is stronger. We would have more time as well, but I fear you will wake rather quickly from any rest this early in the day. I am sure you have more questions.” That was something of an understatement, thought Vel. “You’re damn right I do, first of all-“ The figure spoke up again and interrupted him “But those questions can wait till we meet face to face, my liege. Tomorrow, I will arrive, meet me here.” Accompanying the last word came an image. It was a hillside Vel knew, about an hour’s ride from the estate. A short climb up the hillside, there was a small opening, one that no one would see unless they knew it was there. Which he did know now. It presented a problem though. The hillside was not super steep or anything, but it was still a hillside, and it was overgrown. There’d be rocks, vegetation, and tree roots. Impossible for Vel to climb.
“There’s a bit of problem here, how do you expect me to get there?” The figure, for the first time, sounded a bit displeased. “My liege, if you with all your gifts cannot figure out a way to do so, then I was wrong about you.” Vel supposed he had a point. Riding there would of course be no problem, and he supposed he could get someone to help him up there. “Very well, I shall see you tomorrow then.” Vel worried there could be an ambush of sorts, but he was really flying blind here and needed answers. Besides, there would no doubt be easier ways to take him out than this. He would risk it. “Very good, my liege, you will have your answers soon.” And with the pleased voice of the strange figure echoing in his ears, Vel woke up.
