Chapter 4 by Lord_Blackhand Lord_Blackhand

Shall we begin the story?

Yes! Stop wasting my damn time!

Excelsior, dear reader!

My name is Rich. I’m a mutant. And…I think I might be in DEEP trouble. I’m currently standing outside the heavy oaken doors of Miss Frost’s office. Yes. THAT Miss Frost. Emma Frost. Former White Queen of the weirdo criminal sex cult thing, the Hellfire Club, turned X-Man and teacher here at Professor Xavier’s school. Most importantly, she was MY teacher. In fact, she instructed a whole little clique of us “trouble” students. We’re colloquially known as the Hellions by the other faculty and students. I’m sure it’s meant with the utmost respect! Ha…

And, anyway, here I am. Outside her office, at the behest of her psychic summons, and before class would even start. Yep. I’m betting everything’s gonna be fine.

‘Enter.’ Speaking of psychic communication, there she is again, right in my brain. The heavy doors swing outward, deliberately but slowly enough they don’t bash me in the face, luckily. Telekinesis must rule.

I enter her office, stepping over the threshold onto a shockingly plush oriental rug. The large room is cozily lit by the golden sun coming in through half-shaded windows. Miss Frost is seated behind a large mahogany desk, the top of which is covered in neatly organized stacks of paperwork. She never looks up as I approach with all the confidence of a little kid scared of a beating. God, she’s so hot. Her gorgeous, thick, golden hair cascading down over pale bare shoulder and framing an elegant face, made up with subtle, but effective cosmetics-subtle aside from the stark blue lipstick.

“Good morning, Miss Frost!”

She finally looks up and I’m thankfully greeted by an easy smile, my nerves suddenly spared, “Good morning, Rich. It is so pleasant to finally get a chance to address you directly. Tell me, has life in the Hellions been good to you?” There is a hint of venom in her voice as she says “Hellions”, that is in stark contrast with the rest of her words. But I barely notice it as my eyes are so locked into her piercing icy blues.

“It has!” I suddenly feel like I might need to try earning some brownie points, “Probably because you’ve been such a great teacher.”

She chuckles slightly, “I appreciate your kind words. It is wonderful to see that my influence on this new generation of Hellions is appreciated. Of course, I am simply the messenger. It is up to you kids to take all of my teachings and make the most of them - to be better than those who came before you. That is what makes you Hellions.” She gives a stoic look as she says this.

Smiling nervously and rubbing the back of my neck, I respond “We’ll certainly try our best to be an ideal for others to strive to. To represent you and your teachings will in the world, Miss Frost.”

She stands, gracefully rising from her chair in such a fluid motion it almost seems like she doesn’t even move, her eyes never unlocking from mine, even as she steps around her desk. Her perfect long legs stride elegantly. “Perfect. You'll have no trouble on that end. As for your own personal journey... My best advice to you will be to find your motivation. What is it that drives you, Lord Traxis? What are your goals? What do you live for - and I mean live? Where does your passion lie? Where is your fire?”

“I’m…” I manage to break the hypnotic hold her beautiful blue eyes have on me to look away in mild shame, “I’m afraid I don’t have one, ma’am. Regrettably, I mostly just find myself going through the motions every day. Like I’m just filling time until the end.” I return my gaze to hers and I’m shocked to see a sympathetic look on my normally cold instructor’s face.

“That is unfortunate. You must change this. You deserve passion, and you deserve purpose. When we are without any of these things, we are at our most pitiful. I have known a few people to get trapped in this mindset, and it is like watching a flame dwindle. A fire that never sparks again. So, I am telling you now, that you must find a little spark. A little flicker of light to warm your life and ignite your purpose. Make it a goal to do so. You deserve it.”

Her expression suddenly changes drastically again, but to what?
