CLAIRE: Mom?? Are you busy? Can you talk??

ELAINE: Of course. How's my favorite secret couple?

CLAIRE: Roy's getting changed, so I only have a minute, but I'm FREAKING OUT

CLAIRE: He froze on the threshold. Like statue froze. I thought I broke him.

ELAINE: Oh darling. What happened?

CLAIRE: I asked him to carry me over the threshold. As a joke!!

CLAIRE: He just stood there. Like I'd asked him to marry me.

ELAINE: Well, sweetheart... he might have read a bit into what you were asking. You are, after all, marrying a different man.

CLAIRE: I know but I didn't mean to poke the whole marriage situation in the eye. I was just trying to be playful.

CLAIRE: Mom what if me being engaged to Adam is hurting Roy? Should I call it off? I'm not sure what the right thing to do is.

ELAINE: Listen to me. Being married to your father was the best thing I ever did. It broke me open. Made my heart wider than I knew possible. He was my future before I even understood what that meant. If you're lucky, you get that once.

CLAIRE: But you and Roy??

ELAINE: Roy came later. At exactly the wrong time and exactly the right time. He shook dust off places I'd let go dull and unlit. He made me hope again. Made me feel things I thought aged out with my twenties. If I ever allowed myself to imagine a second marriage...

ELAINE: Being Mrs. Roy Robinson would not be a bad dream to land in.

CLAIRE: So you're saying that I should dump Adam and marry Roy before you get to him first?

ELAINE: Don't get smart. I'm saying nothing of the sort. I want you and Roy to be together just as much as I want to be with Roy. We can share. But you are a grown woman. If you've found love, sometimes you need to make sacrifices to make it work. I hope it never comes to it, but if you ever have to make a choice, I trust that you'll know who to pick.

CLAIRE: So what do I do RIGHT NOW?

ELAINE: You're out with a man that you love, right? Then love him! You touch him. You feed him. You be what he needs. You make tonight count. How do you look?

CLAIRE:

ELAINE: You look beautiful.

CLAIRE: Thank you for setting this up. Adam had no idea. We wouldn't have had tonight without you.

ELAINE: You're welcome. And give Roy a kiss for me. But not too good a kiss. Just because we're sharing, doesn't mean I want him forgetting who he loves best.

CLAIRE: Lol possessive much???

CLAIRE: Wait. I think he's coming back. I'd better go.

ELAINE: Go. And text me later if you're still conscious.

CLAIRE: Love you. Wish me luck.

ELAINE: Sweet girl. You don't need luck. Just love, honesty, and maybe a condom.
