"Ann," Kaito said in a soothing voice. "I know you're nervous. But you don't have anything to worry about. Think about it. When you came in earlier today, did I do anything unsavory?"

"I guess not," Ann said, not remembering the actions she'd done under hypnosis.

"Exactly," Kaito said. "I could have easily taken advantage of you. But I didn't. I get that after everything with Kamoshida you're a bit guarded, and that's okay, but you've clearly seen I'm not like that."

Ann hesitated, still a bit nervous.

"Look," Kaito said. "I won't do anything to you I wouldn't feel comfortable with myself."

"Well..." Ann said, looking directly at Kaito with her gorgeous blue eyes. "All right. I trust you, Doc."

She followed Kaito to the living room, gently setting her purse on the ottoman in front of the sofa.
