Wind blade

There are some water mages who specialize in manipulating air rather then water. These so called weather mages or storm mages are experts in changing weather, creating storms and tornados or in very rare cases, they even managed to fly. Professor Frost told you that manipulating air is very advanced form magic. It needs precise knowledge about temperature, wetness of the air and such things. Technically fire mages could do this too, but it is even more complicated for them.

You are not sure if this could be a path you follow for the rest of your live, but you were able to copy a few rune combinations from a guest lecturer. After some experimenting with Luna and Omboran, some failures, injuries and punishment labors, you were able to create a stable, precise attack spell. You call it wind blade. An invisible cutting wave made of sharp air. Professor Frost was impressed. Even if the spell was not new, other storm mages needed much longer to archive this.

You take a deep breath and focus. You know the runes and how to arrange them, but this is a very complex spell. You let you magic flow and a circle of blue light appears in your hand. The runes you mumble appear in the circle and when the Las rune appears, the circle fades. You feel the air getting compressed in your hand. The wind blade is ready to get thrown or used directly.

The chimera is not impressed at all. From its perspective it must look like you did nothing. It continues rushing towards you with murderous speed and it's teeth ready to rip your head from your neck. You hesitate, but get ready. When the monster is close enough, you need to strike. The chimera gets faster and when you are only two meters away from it, it jumps to attack you. This is the moment when you raise your hand let the wind blade free.

You see the air move strangely. The chimera is only centimeters away from you in the air when a red explosion appears close to it's face. You get splashed with a little blood hear a long, painful scream and in the same moment, the body of the chimera crushes into yours. You get thrown to the ground. Buried under the wolfish body. You struggle to get free and back at your feet. It was a stupid idea to aim at the chimera in the air. But when you are up, you see that you opponent is not getting up. It is not moving at all. It just lays there. In a small lake of its own blood. A cut over its entries body goes almost 20 centimeters deep and destroyed several organs. You killed the monster.
