Erica's mouth snapped shut and her pupils reappeared as Andrew rebound her script. She stood up from under Mehdi's desk, looking around anxiously. Madison, Ross, and Andrew were all staring at her.

"Did it work?" she asked. "Did he buy it?"

"Yeah," Andrew said. "But we need to get some answers from you now."

"Of course. I'm an open book."

"Is there something different about the dirt you're made of?" Ross asked.

Erica briefly looked stunned before replying nonchalantly. "I don't have anything to say about that."

"Didn't think so," Andrew said as he pulled the modifier out of his pocket.

"A modifier? What are you- ohh. Hmmmm..."

The professor trailed off the moment her eyes fixed on the tiny paper encased in the black container. She stared at it mutely, a dim smile flickering at the corners of her mouth.

Madison had her eyes closed. "Did you put it away yet? Can I look?"

"It's in my pocket,* Andrew said. Ross started to protest but Madison had already opened her eyes to see the script a few inches from her eyes. She let out a deep sigh and fell backwards onto her ass, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"What the hell did you do that for?" Ross demanded.

"Felt like sitting," Madison said dreamily. "I feel bendy."

"Me too," Erica said as she spun lazily in her office chair. "Feels good."

"What do you mean?" Ross asked. Madison smiled at him.

"Oh, Ross, I love you... I feel like all the me inside me is a little more... uh, bendy?" She giggled and hiccuped.

"Mmhmm," the professor agreed. "Everything feels fluid and change-y."

"Ok, Erica," Andrew said. She stopped rotating and looked at him expectantly. "I need you to tell me the truth and not hold anything back."

"Okie-dokie!"

"Are you aware of anything different or special about your soil?"

"Oh, that again? I think... no. I don't have to say anything about it."

"She's lying," Madison stage-whispered to Andrew with a giggle.

Erica took a moment to process the accusation, then turned to smile at Madison. "You bitch," she said pleasantly.

Ross decided to try his hand. He knelt next to the professor and held the armrests to keep her from rotating.

"Hi, Erica," he said slowly. "You said earlier you felt bendy?"

"Yup."

"That means your script is a little loose, huh?"

"She's a little loose!" Madison chimed in. Erica looked at her quizzically. "Your pussy," she clarified.

Ross ignored her. "So do you think you can be a little loose with that rule that says you can't tell us about your dirt?"

"Mmm. Yeah, I think." Erica concentrated. "It's more nit- uh, nitrogen and I don't think I have anything to say about that." She looked surprised at her own words, making Madison snort with laughter.

"Oh my God, Erica, you're such a dimwit!" She paused. "Wait, so am I."

"So it's just high nitrogen soil?" Ross asked.

"What? Me? Yeah! I don't have anything to say about that, though." Erica beamed as if she had solved a puzzle.

Ross and Andrew stepped aside, leaving the simplified golems staring passively at each other.

"Let's get Madison back to normal and we'll ask her about the nitrogen," Ross said.

"Not yet," Andrew replied. "We need to have a conversation first."
